I don't feel like being very productive today, so I'll do one of these topics again. Just let me know what you like and what streaming sites you're subscribed to, and I'll give you a handful of recommendations.

Let's go!

My family has accounts on Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and Disney+, and I have access to Amazon Prime.

I actually posted a topic a week ago asking for recommendations for something specific... Basically I'm looking for movies about a person or people who become disconnected with/detached from their reality. Maybe they learn or discover that something about their perception of the world is actually artificial or "fake" in some way. And then they go on a journey to discover "the truth" about the world, or whatever it is that lies beyond their previous perception.

Hopefully that's enough to go on. Some examples include The Matrix trilogy/The Animatrix, The Truman Show, Memento, etc. Sci-fi movies tend to touch on this a lot more than other genres (virtual realities being a hot topic), but it doesn't have to be sci-fi.

I think I saw that topic. I know people were recommending Dark City, which I'd certainly second. It's great. Other than that:

Synecdoche, New York
The Science of Sleep
The Fall (2006)
eXistenZ
Brazil
Perfect Blue (hoopla)
(and really any of Satoshi Kon's movies outside of Tokyo Godfathers)

(I'm really struggling with finding much on streaming today...sorry if these aren't helpful for that reason)

I got most of them: Netflix, Disney+, Prime vid

I like comedies but can't think of a recent one I enjoyed. Thrillers, Suspense, Action, basically anything besides sappy romance movies (although I did like It's Complicated)

Welcome! I thought most of them seemed a little too obvious, so I threw in Alfredo Garcia to help spice it up. They're all great though, and you're really in for a treat with Once Upon a Time.

Cool! I've never really gotten much feedback in either of these topics I've done, so I don't really know if people actually LIKE the movies I suggest. Will note that The Sweet Hereafter and Lady Vengeance are both real depressing.

* (Not sure why I put The Sweet Hereafter twice)
