Do you think it's fair for people to get stimulus checks who never lost their jobs?

I lost my job back in April when the pandemic first started. But I live with my parents. Who get social security checks every month (those never stopped). It's not like they were going to kick me out. My dad doesn't work, but my mom works out of the house. In may I got the $1200 stimulus check. I've only spent $300 of it, on a nintendo switch. The rest is still in my bank account. I started working again in October. On January 1st I got another $600 stimulus. Which is still in the bank. So throughout this whole mess, me and my family haven't really struggled. I guess I feel a little guilty that some people can't even buy food.

Do you think people who have jobs and receive social security should also get the stimulus checks?

Who cares. People dont have time to worry about this. Its not just for people who lost jobs.

Imagine how long it would take to figure out who really needs it. Then when they're done figuring it out some who didnt need it before would later.

The stimulus isn't just about helping people, but helping the economy.

i think they should go to every single american (though maybe a lower amount for minors('s parents), every month, but make it illegal to not spend it within the month (and no, investing != spending). no, i don't know how to enforce that. i don't care. yes, pay your bills. yes, go buy stupid shit.

and for fucks sake, shut everything down that can be shut down while we do it.

Staying at home (and the pandemic in general I guess) has added a bunch of sundry expenses to my budget. It's been covered and then some by the $1800 but other households could have more expenses. Probably cheaper to push it out without means testing too much.

Grocery delivery fees add up. That's the main recurring extra expense, but there are other ones too like masks and gloves, disinfectant, exercise stuff so I don't have to go to the gym, etc.

It is fair, especially if companies keep cutting hours.
