Voted the first. Trump himself was about as bad as I expected, but other GOP politicians enabled him far more than I thought they would.

I'm not Republican or conservative, but when he was elected, I was optimistic that Trump would de different in a positive way. At least better than Bush was. I was so, so wrong. Trump is probably the worst president ever.

Up until the coup, he was just a shitty person as expected, but that rocketed him to absolute worst.

I didn't expect him to botch a nation wide crisis so badly. I expected him to be bad but not that bad.

He was an obvious toxic piece of garbage even from his campaign and I expected the Republicans to push him out as soon as they had a good excuse to do so (before the 2018 midterm) Instead they embraced him, circled the wagons around him to defend him at every turn, and allowed him and his cult to warp their party into his grotesque image.

At least voting is a lot faster and easier for me these days. Itll take a huge reckoning and reform of the party before I ever even consider voting for a Republican again.

I thought he would be bad, but I figured typical bad Republican bad and he's been far worse than I ever imagined. Especially in 20 2020 into 2021, it just brought him to a level I never thought possible.

He is about what I expected. What I am surprised about is he didnt start a huge war which I fully expected he would with his big ego, running his mouth along with his overall inability to think absolutely anything through. We got super close with Iran and NK though. And he also has tried his luck at a Civil War.

I did not expect the party to become a full on cult though. All the people that fully buy into it all is very depressing.

I didn't vote for Trump. I voted for Johnson. I didn't want Trump, but didn't want Hillary even more. Why? Because I bought into the Hillary hatred and thought libs were being overdramatic about Trump. But instead of voting for either, I was an enlightened centrist and went third party.

Fast forward to now, I wish I voted for Hillary. I see the Libertarian party as kind of a joke. And I will never vote for a Republican again.

I may not have voted for him and I may not have supported him, but I was way too passive about him. Never again. I will be getting more politically involved to fight his movement.

On topic, I expected him to be a bumbling idiot, but would surround himself with experts and just be a figure head. He was a lot worse and I was a fucking moron.

I figured he'd be this bad, but I never expected the government to allow him to take it as far as an attempted coup without any consequences. Like I fully expected him to be impeached within a couple months of being elected, because that's exactly what would have happened in a world with any sort of justice.

This sums up my feelings. When he won in 2016 I was on the let's give him a chance train, but everything he did was for his own personal agenda.

I may disagree with Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan on multiple policy fronts, but I felt like they truly believed their actions were in the country's best interest. Or in the case of Reagan the GOP was taking advantage of a man with dementia.

I will say this, I fully expected him to succeed in an attempt to override the democratic process and instill himself as indefinite leader. So I guess I should have voted he was better than I expected

And I expected that as of years ago, not simply during this election

I think it might be why i initially wrote Greg off as a hardline conservative, glad I reconsidered cuz he's one of the better posters here for sure

I fully expected him to completely mess up a repsonse to a national emergency were one to happen.

For years I was worried about him riling up his base into violence and terrorism.

I knew he would blatantly engage in criminal activity regarding his own election and his own finances.

I foresaw all of these things and yet it was still shocking to see it all occur in real time.

What I didnt expect was the amount of depravity the republican party and its base were willing to tolerate.

Not to be dramatic, but you two are one of the few users on this board I attribute my maturing as a person to. I spend so much time here, that I'd be lying if I don't have some sort of influences from being here. I am so grateful for people like you who helped open my eyes and see that I either had some wrong beliefs or I was way too passive of them.

I definitely think this is the case for me as well, with a bunch of posters here contributing (you and shock deff included). It's mad corny but I probably wouldn't be as happy and comfortable with myself as I am without the positive influences here. Deff a factor in my maturation as well, tho there's always room for improvement

Anyone with half a brain knew he would be terrible, but I don't believe I expected this kind of terrible.

And there are still millions that support him. There is no hope for this country and we will see worse major candidates in the future. We have established America as a joke. Any dumbass that can make the masses clap can literally win office.

But I expected the country to start falling apart the very first year into his term, not the last. I expected all the shit from 2020 to start happening much much sooner.
