I don't recall my iguana being much of a shedder, so I'm not really tracking the metaphor.

Depends on age and diet. Alot of older iguanas shed small patches at a time. While smaller iggies wull slough like a entire limb or side due to increased growth. Also people giving an iguana a bad diet will see more shedding as the kin is under constant strain from the fat.......kinda like diabetes induced psoriasis (skin turns grey like a callus on the back of neck or sometimes belly area)
