Its almost like maybe medication that people need shouldn't be absurd prices and the US should do something about this but won't because the pharmaceutical and insurance industries are in our politicians pockets
Yup. Big pharma is the most evil industry in the USA

iirc, Kansas passed (or tried to pass) a bill putting a cap to insulin costs, but of course, big pharma is fighting it

The US should cut their warmongering bill by 25% and invest it in health care.

50% is more like it. They would still be spending more on the military than any other nation, and we would finally be able to invest in health care, education, and infrastructure.

...But no, doing that would be "socialism".

Socialism would be everyone getting "walmart" insulin apart from rich diabetics anyway.

I remember the year I didn't have insurance and had to pay $600 out of pocket for insulin. Even the pharmacy techs were like holy shit dude.

The reason that happens, is because nobody really expects to pay "list price", apart from the people who end up actually doing so.

And just yesterday the three peens podcast talked about how shitty american health care is, also the insurance. Mark talked about how his doctor wrote him a prescription for 90 pills, and his insurance gave him 30 pills. Said he needed a doctor's note to get the full 90. He was so shocked and pissed, is a prescription filled out by a doctor not a doctor's note?!

There's countless varieties of insulin and delivery mechanisms, and the ones with lapsed patents have been mostly discontinued.

It's all a giant circlejerk of middlemen, kickbacks, and salami-slicing. Were this any other industry, there'd be a very large and very public press conference about a bunch of RICO act arrests.
thanks for the info.
