EmilyWillis 01/13/21 2:05:14 AM #1:	been playin yugioh link evolution on ps4 i only watched some of the first anime series, right now i'm playing the pendulum summon era of the single player campaign and uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh i HATE that there's so much text on these cards tbh i'm alright with fusion/synchro/xyz summoning but pendulum summoning is just ugh, cant explain why, i have a feeling link summoning is going to turn me off even more when i get to that part lol anyways i've replayed the original yugioh duels the most because i at least recognize the characters and the cards, havent replayed the GX or the synchro summoning/xyz summoning duels after i beat them im sure modern yugioh has some sweet sick ass combos and plays and shit but i just want to summon La Jinn and activate Ookazi, not read wikipedia articles lol --- https://i.ibb.co/3MLyHFP/emilywillis-DELICIOUS.jpg <cite>EmilyWillis posted [p:949444219] in i like old... Juhanor 01/13/21 1:49:25 PM #29:	I'm in a similar boat with Tag Force. Basically Ritual and Fusion is all the "extra" summoning I care to see. Synchro is too powerful. Being able to hit the field with a 2-3k first turn and basically no sell everything that comes its way is ridiculous. Tuners should have just been a bonus to normal monsters IMO, giving them effects was a mistake. Xyz I don't mind as much because Ranks add width to the game, but they might be just as broken. Pendulum summoning was an absolute joke of a mechanic upon release and was overshadowed by Shaddols, tellarknights, and Burning Abyss. >_> Qlis came in the next set tho and yeah they were annoying as fuck. <_< Over its lifespan tho Pendulums werent really broken relative to the meta of their time. PePe dominated for a while but there have always been broken decks/strategies. A lot of times it's very specific targeting restrictions or very specific removal restrictions. Because they have nuances, a lot of boss monsters can be balanced. But I don't think anybody actually likes Pends. When they finally became meta here and there, people realized just how broken it can be inherently. Konami also realized it and basically slowly pretended pendulums don't exist. Most modern cards would rather incorporate a mix of synchros/xyz/links/fusions and leave pends out. You either go full pend or no pend If you want to have fun, just don't even bother with pends. More than half the time, only one of the side of the effect matters more than the other, and you can sorta tell what they do eventually when you're facing against them.
