I recently moved to Eastside of Phoenix and I REALLY want to visit Scottsdale, I am close enough I don't even need to use the highway. The thing is I have this old 2015 Toyota car and it has a bit of wear and tear. Like it isn't literally falling apart but there are some dents here and there and you can just kinda tell its been through some times.

I'd love to visit Scottsdale but I feel like in a city like that I'd stick out like a sore thumb. I could take the bus there and avoid all of that but I don't really want to use the bus with the virus, I was hoping on just driving around and getting a good feel of the city, MAYBE stop somewhere for some take out and eat it in my apartment.

Am I being too insecure?

You're being serious? Dude, metro Phoenix has millions of people. People drive trash through every part of town whether anyone likes it or not. Snobsdalians might not like to see sub-100k Mercedes, but they won't say shit about it. Stop caring what other people think, lol.

You're better off parking somewhere and then walking around or riding a bike if you want to take in Old Town/Downtown or the Fashion Square part of Scottsdale. There's a lot of traffic lights and pedestrian traffic so driving around gets stressful. Plus the weather right now is perfect for being outside so try to enjoy it.

There's also the Talking Stick area that has some cool attractions and places to go but there isn't much to take in if you're just driving around.

The Kierland shopping district in north Scottsdale is probably the place that gives me the most 'snobbish' feeling but it's easy to park and walk around and check out all the shops and such over there as well.
But honestly, nobody is going to bother noticing an unremarkable ride or hold it against you just for driving through. There are plenty of people who have to work in these areas and aren't going to be pulling six figure salaries.

My truck is the most beat up piece of shit in my complex. There are retirees and doctors who live here.

I don't care.

The thing is there is a bus stop almost literally right outside my apartment complex that goes straight the Scottsdale but I am worried of getting sick

Maybe all of this should be held off until COVID dies down but I am still somewhat new to Arizona and I want to explore.

So, just drive over there in your car and enjoy yourself? I've driven through there plenty of times and while you're going to see more luxury vehicles than usual, most are driving something ordinary and unremarkable, and nobody is going to peg you as the guy who rode in on a Toyota. I wouldn't just wait if that's something you want to do. We're already in the tail end of winter and by the time COVID settles down, you're either going to be in the hot summer or into next fall/winter (if even that...)

Who cares dude? It's a city full of strangers. So what if someone turns up their nose at your car? Fuck them, go and enjoy yourself.
