Board 8 > The Ys Series - Where to Start

I still feel everyone should start with Ys 1+2 whether it's the TG16, PSP or PC version, then you can pretty much go anywhere you want from there.

I ended up getting Ys I&II and the first Trails game during a Steam sale last year

was going to play Ys, but I started on Trails and ended up binging the first three games ;>_>

I started with Seven on PSP, then played VIII on Switch, and will play IX on Switch (unless it's super shitty performance, then maybe PC if that exists). Maybe one day I'll go back to older titles.

9 is actually the most reference heavy to past games of any Ys game

Yeah you could play it first, but you would definitely get more out of it if you played some others first.

So far the order I've gone has been VIII -> Seven -> Oath in Felghana -> Ark of Napishtim -> Origin

Worked well enough so far, once I'm finished with Origin (I'm stalled on a second playthrough of it right now because of Monster Hunter Rise demo taking up my time) I'll probably give 1+2 on PSP a go.

I did 3 -> 8 -> 4

I loved 8, but wasn't a fan of 3 or 4. Origin's probably the main other one I'd consider playing.
