Banning for feels over win rates can make sense if it leads to a bad player experience. Card games have banned cards with 45% (or lower) win rates in the past.

Didnt Modern Eggs have a horrible win rate? They banned Second Sunrise anyway because literally no one, including the people PLAYING Eggs, wanted the deck in the format.

I could also name more than a few Hearthstone examples.

Less people didnt like playing it, more that you had 20 minute turns after time was called. The rules of magic just didnt work well with it.

But yeah I think its similar.

Drafted a sweet WB deck with the 1WWB Angel saga and 2 clarion spirits, immediately went 0-2, Almost tilted, then won 7 straight.

This was expected and the correct move, yeah. Should have had the foresight to do it months ago but yeah.

SSG being banned in modern is the biggest bummer to me. The collateral damage that causes on a bunch of already lower tier decks sucks.

Honestly don't think any deck playing SSG is healthy to have in the format anyways, but I understand that it's just another thing contributing to the death of Modern's iconic identity.

But hey, bring back Pod and Twin and maybe we can discuss the combo mana monkey.

When Modern was introduced ten years ago it literally was super Standard, and over the years it has slowly evolved into discount Legacy. So this would just be bringing it back in line!

Admittedly I was not paying attention to it very much when it released but I don't think that's true given that it launched with a hefty banlist of what were the most powerful cards in past Standards. If it seemed like just a "super standard" that was probably because the Standard environment when it launched was Scars/Innistrad which...was very high-power, to say the least. But that means that the instant the RTR rotation occurred it already had its own identity.

Part of me wants to get back into Pauper. Really fun format. Lot's of decks I don't like admittedly, but I had a lot of fun playing various red/blue builds there.

Also while I never played Modern, Simian Spirit Guide definitely felt like a card that was unhealthy from an outsider's perspective. I guess that attitude is why I pretty much only play Standard and Limited, but yeah.

Part of me wants to get back into Pauper. Really fun format. Lot's of decks I don't like admittedly, but I had a lot of fun playing various red/blue builds there.

Play Penny Dreadful. It rotates every time a set releases and the cards that are legal are whatever costs 2c or less on the card bots. It's like Legacy except decks normally win on turn 5 or 6 instead of 2 or 3. There are some ridiculous decks that have been high-tier at various times, like High Tide combo and basically Splinter Twin. They don't need to ban anything because by the time a dominant strategy has had time to solidify it costs more than 2c and gets banned in the next season.

notable thing: its an enemy color set, they showed Commands for each. Will and Rowan are back.

also theres a thing thats like Masterpieces, but much more common (one will be in each pack ). 63 instants/sorceries from Magics history with cool new art. Playable in drafts, not standard legal, mostly historic legal (its coming to Arena too).

Agreed. I sort of wish the schools were shards instead of enemy color pairs, but otherwise Im way more interested in this than any other standard set in a while.

Played in the Arena Open today which for some reason had Kaldheim Sealed for the format. Wasn't super happy with my card pool but I did manage to go 5-3. In retrospect I might have been underrating how I pulled a bit though. My rares weren't great outside of Doomskar and Showdown of the Skalds, and I didn't have a way to easily play the latter since my red pool was just terrible. However I did get 2 Vega the Watcher and 3 Ravenous Lindwurm, which turned out to be quite good at the end of the day.

As you might imagine, ended up running green/blue/white control focused on the aforementioned cards. The combination of evasive threats and big threats meant I was able to find a way to push damage through against most decks. I had great card draw with 2xVega+Sarulf's Packmate+Behold the Multiverse+2-3 other foretell cards, and for more aggressive decks I had several ways to gain life plus Doomskar is obviously an instant "stabilize the board".

I was considering playing in that. Im glad they finally started doing limited ones, hopefully they do more. If this was a limited format I enjoyed Id probably have given it a shot, but Kaldheim hasnt really been my favorite.

Exactly the opposite of my reaction haha.

But whatever. I'd rather have Constructed but I enjoy Limited well enough also and I like playing in events regardless. Also was able to enter using Gold so it's not like I really sunk money into the entry fee either. I suppose also even if I do prefer constructed, the fact that there's a variety is probably good no matter what.

I literally just qualified for day 2 moments ago with a red/white boast/equipment/token (?) deck
mvp card ended up being the boast Gods artifact side which lets you discard one card to let you play the top two cards of your deck for the turn

one of the games in my last match came down to the absolute last card in my deck (kayas whatever, the double strike instant). It was very tense.

now I just have to make sure I wake up early enough tomorrow to sign up for the next part (the window is 8 - 10 am central)

I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve. If your goal is to maximize winning without wildcards I would try looking into some of the Aggro decks. I am pretty sure decks like Snow White

If your goal is just to play random cards you have, I would dump yorion so you can get down to 60 cards so you can remove some of your weaker common cards, then slowly start replacing non synergistic cards like obosh and lurrus

If you arent sure what cards are good from what you have, I would look to see what cards decks on mtggoldfish are playing, and if SOME decks are playing the card its probably ok (Though do pay attention that it isnt super specific cards in a niche role)

Your biggest problem is some of your cards like tactical advantage are extremely underpowered.

Yeah, its a really weak card. Compare it to something like maul of the skyclave.

Can artifacts be equipped at anytime? I've liked tactical for baiting them to kill things and popping that so their creature dies instead.

And that's a part of why I thought TA was good because I could use it when being blocked or blocking, if thats not a good strategy thats fine. I'm open to learn and thats why I am here.
