Do you think this idiot is gonna get the pink slip?

31 y/o Will PEPE from New York is caught red handed after the MTA Worker was caught taking part in storming the Capitol in DC by his BOSS and has now been suspended!!!

He worked at MTA Metro North's Brewster Rail Yard in upstate and is also being invested by the FBI.

He made 74,000 smackers a year but called out SICK for this day to head to the event which in itself is a "false use of sick leave"

Spokesman Ken Lovett said "Effective immediately this individual has been suspended from Metro-North without pay and will be discilipined in accordance with their collective bargainign agreement pending an investigation. This alleged conduct is abhorrent and goes against the values of Metro-North."

Do you think this idiot is gonna get Fired?

Because they're used to getting away with shit. Contrary to stereotypes, a huge amount of white supremacy/white nationalism and fascism support comes from well-off people. That's why CEOs, laywers, etc... made up quite a bit of the coup klux klan.

It's because people are evil.

As for what would happen to that rich criminal, I think it will depend on his boss. Whether his boss is a Trash supporter or not will have a big effect. I would like that criminal to be fired, arrested, and more. They should also take his money and distribute it among the poor.

No. That should happen to nobody.

Its really as simple as this.

People are far too often trying to attribute a certain malicious characteristic with a specific group of people and what we should all realize is, shitty people are everywhere XD.

I'll probably be making a little less than that in a year or two once I'm through with my degree. My girlfriend makes a little less as a special education teacher. Personally, I wouldn't consider 74k "rich" but it is a good amount more than many people make. I live in California and it can be a bitch to find affordable living if you're not making at least 40k (roughly $20 an hour).

Considering he's probably going to jail, getting fired -- which would happen anyway if he was in jail -- is likely the least of his concerns.

lol, "wealthy"

And it's also completely untrue, considering it's usually the poor. Even among the people there, it's unlikely that all that many were above the national median. Otherwise rushing the capitol building was likely a spontaneous decision for him. I doubt he went there with the intention of doing something that dangerously stupid and illegal, but he likely saw the crowd doing it and joined in, figuring that he could probably get away with it because so many others were doing it. However, he bet wrong and he's almost certainly going to prison for it.

Let it sink in that people are clueless. Also let it sink in that it's $74k for a relatively low-level GOVERNMENT position. Where do you think that money's coming from?

Does anyone else want to ask Zeus if he feels the same way about people that acted violently at BLM protests? The response should be entertaining, but I don't want to actually have to engage him in such matters because that's always so draining.

That's the point: $74k really isn't that much, but because wages are so stagnant, it's still more than double the national median salary ($35,977 in 2019). He's pointing out that, as absurd as it is that such a figure could be considered "rich" in a world where so many people are so much richer than that, that is still substantially more than most of the country makes.

I mean, he didn't outright say "it's okay," just sympathized with him for getting caught up in the moment. Sympathies which have been conspicuously absent from any of his commentaries on the last six months of protests.

Cognitive dissonance is fun!

If we're directly comparing severity, sure, but there are ample instances of violence during the BLM protests that could be similarly justified by anyone interested in logical consistency, many of which have been latched onto by opponents to the movement for the sake of discrediting it.

"America" is a very big and diverse country.
The living expenses vary WILDLY.
In D.C., $74K is probably middle class, and on the lower end of it.
In coastal cities in California and NYC, it's probably still in the "poor" range.
In like rural Indiana or Montana or something, $74K is probably indeed "wealthy".

Why? Because in some parts of the country you can get a 4000 ft McMansion on multiple acres of land for like $300K and a starter home for around $100K or less.
And then you have places like San Jose, where literally a burned down shack sold within days for over a million dollars, just for the land it was sitting on (which wasn't a lot of land, either)
Rental costs, while not perfectly in line w/ house costs for each area, mostly follow the same trend. It costs less money to pay a mortgage on a 5 bedroom house in bum fuck nowhere than it does to rent a studio apartment in NYC.

https://www.rentcafe.com/average-rent-market-trends/us/dc/washington/

According to that the average rent in DC edit: 2020 (down 7%) for a 743 sqft apartment is $2090/month. That's about 34% of $74k gross income (pre-tax) which is pretty high. For a not large one bedroom.

I wouldn't consider them "wealthy" but also acknowledge that there is a gross disparity and many worse off even in DC. That just shows how terrible our wealth disparity is though.

Context is key. 74k in many areas is barely enough for a decent apartment. 74k in other areas is big living. Where the guy in the story lives, it really isn't wealthy at all.
