Taharqa_ 01/09/21 1:48:58 PM #1:	She went down with a slight bout of pneumonia right before Christmas, when she was boarded at the vet it was discovered that there was something neurologically wrong with her back end whether from a sudden injury or degeneration around her spine. She couldn't stand up on her own or use her back legs. When she was in ICU she tore all of the nails off of her back feet trying to stand up, then it was all downhill from there. I brought her home where she would be more comfortable and happy to be around us, but I could see that she just wasn't the same dog and that she was in pain. She was dealing with hip dysplasia for years, the neurological problem on her back end in addition to her injuries to her feet made recovery an extremely complicated matter and there was no guarantee that she would have a good quality of life as a large breed dog. The day before we brought her to the vet was a really good day, we just hung out all day and she had all kinds of treats and played in what capacity that she could. For a while I just kept second guessing myself and thought maybe I should wait a little longer to see if she'll recover, but when she became incontinent and couldn't control her bladder I knew it was not good. Sometimes when I hear my neighbor's big dog barking in the evening I think it's her.
