I could not care less about celebrity bullshit OR Johnny Depp, but this thing has been going on in the background for so long without me actually knowing who was in the wrong that I had to just get the story straight. This primary came about because I happened to glance at the stuff that just came out of her lying about donating $7 million to a children's hospital under oath.

Good lord how is this woman even real?

I have to say, Depp is absolutely an abuser, but it was INCREDIBLY weird that some people framed The Sun winning a lawsuit on behalf of another abuser who faces no repercussions as a victory for victims of domestic abuse. Its tricky because scumbags will absolutely try to use this to diminish abuse victims, but if the other sides got Amber Heard and The Sun on it, those arent the good guys either.

Screw em both. And screw The Sun even more.

Ultimately it was an incredibly toxic relationship that got amplified by them both being celebrities. As someone who did that for a year (minus the physical abuse although it got close at times) I can see how this spiraled out of control so fast.

Oh, yes, they're both total assholes, but if even just a couple of the things I've seen about Heard's antics through this (shitting in Depp's bed, cutting off his finger) are actually the case, this goes beyond a dual sided toxic relationship.

Yeah, when this first came out and everyone was celebrating Amber Heard as some survivor hero I was telling people that I've seen enough cases like this where a lot felt really off, and that I felt like, at the very least, both of them were abusing one another.

Regarding the Sun case, it's not a victory for or against domestic abuse. It's a victory for journalism, and mostly half-assed journalism.

The only thing it seems is that Johnny Depp is being a lot more truthful about the situation, while Amber Heard is a psychopath lying constantly and faking evidence repeatedly and everyone who has ever been around her in her life apparently hates her existence. So it's really bizarre to see people supporting Amber Heard at all.

it's not 100% confirmed that she mutilated him but all the evidence we have does point that yes, she did.
and of course he couldn't do anything about it because, in her words, who's gonna believe him that some 90 pound woman hurt him?

the whole 'both were abusers' is pretty much offset by what she did and how extreme she was in it. by far, she's the worse actor.

I don't know that this works in this situation. From the audio clips, she literally belittled and mocked him about hurting him in a malicious way, saying nobody will believe him.

Which is like, the complete reverse of what you said. If she was just a victim fighting back, she's not just belittling the dude about how he can't come out about her hurting him on a constant basis.

Like, Amber Heard is fucking vile. Let's not understate this. The lengths she has gone to absolutely destroy Johnny Depp here are outrageous. He's not saint and there's plenty bad he did on his end, but she is a legitimate mental case and needs to be locked up. She has serious mental issues.

I think you're misunderstanding his point, which is to not forget that that is by FAR the more common scenario, and this situation not being that doesn't mean we should think any differently about how these cases usually would go.

This is a very important point. Im very nervous about even talking about this because I dont want to remotely fuel the disgusting misogynists trying to belittle abuse victims, which I think this case has been a magnet for. I have my suspicions about a certain poster in this topic on that note. We therefore need to make it clear - she was absolutely violent towards him in a way that was not self-defence. This is a distinction that needs to be clear. With that said Id also urge scepticism of the more salacious claims. I also think Depp is a lowlife acting out of revenge. And I would urge people to be very, very cautious about this narrative generally, the vast majority of victims are not violent back aside from acts of self-defence, this is obviously a radical exception.
