1. Take a pic and post it on Reddit.
2. Take off her name or any items that may say who you are.
3. If it is a scam give the number to the police and let them take care of it (doubt regular police will give a fuck, but you can try).

How about you call the number from a different phone, and give them totally made up info (name, address whatever).

If they still say you are being sued or need to pay fees, you know 100% its a scam.

If its not legit call back from a payphone and mess with them. "Yeah this is detective smith with the local pd. Can we ask you a few questions?"

yeah i was looking up process servers and the numbers didnt match. also the area code is from new jersey, we live in texas.

also, they said they start making the rounds again around 6 pm

The number was 856-421-0388

I looked it up and there was a review on Spokeo saying they tried to extort money from them and made threats

call your local PD and report it and tell them they will be back at 6 pm

Although this is most likely a scam, don't let an out of state number instantly throw you. Alot of businesses, especially hospitals, will go through a collection agency from another state.

Yeah, I agree that you should report it TC. Maybe warn any neighbors you're acquainted with. That sounds like something they'd try on multiple houses to see who bites. And it's a scare tactic, so there are definitely people that are falling for it.

Yeah she shouldnt have responded. I work at the Attorney Generals office and we get served a lot, but occasionally there comes a service that we just dont take for whatever reason. The deputy AG tells them to fuck off (not literally of course lol) and we just dont take the paperwork. They cant just leave it with us since they need an attorney to sign for it and stuff.
