Castile dies because he told the cops when he was not required. In many states, including my state of Florida, you are only required to tell them if
1)you are legally detained
AND 2) they ask.

Be smart. No reason why they need to know unless you want to give them an excuse to shoot you.

Idk if true, but I knew a guy who claimed he got a massive ticket and delayed for hours while they searched his car for drugs after getting pulled over for speeding.
To be fair, when the cop asked him where he was off to in such a hurry he said something to the effect of "I'm going to bang some horny milf, her idiot husband is a cop and at work right now".

I'm probably talking to a guy who has never been slammed down by cops, has probably never thought to say fuck the police without a reason to do so before these protests (or political guys made it some cool fad to do so), and probably has never been in a confrontation with the cops PERIOD

If an individual is carrying a concealed handgun without a permit, he/she has a duty, when coming into contact with any law enforcement officer during a routine stop, detention or arrest, to immediately inform the law enforcement officer that the individual is carrying a concealed handgun.

Might save your life or keep you out of jail.

To be fair, there was 150 million police contacts in the US in 2019, with 1000 fatal police shootings. In 950 of them, the suspect killed was in an active felony action with a deadly weapon

Why would you tell a cop if it's completely unnecessary? What's next, you give him consent to search your car? Just follow the law, don't be disrespectful and go on your way.

Think about it,what good does it even do to say, "oh by the way, I'm carrying a gun?" At best, it's a waste of breath. At worst, it's a Castile tragedy.

Did you even read the OP? In the topic title I specifically said unless you're obligated to do so. And I specifically mentioned my state as being one of the states in which you are not obligated. Read a little more carefully next time.
