Most of them seem to fall into

1) burn in torturous hellfire for all eternity
2) go stand in a cloud somewhere and sing hyms for all eternity
3) become one with the essence of space and time or whatever

I guess Islam maybe? If you take the 72 virgins and a thousand servants thing seriously

Norse mythology is fucking sweet with several options of an afterlife depending on your lifestyle. They even allow loyal animals in their afterlife.

Really? I don't know jack about this one, I just figured it was "end up in a log cabin with a bunch of violent bearded men for all eternity"

Shamanism or Buddhism believes in reincarnation. When you die your soul/spirit go lives in the spirit world and depending how you lived your previous life, you will be reborn into any living creature. Human being are apparently the ultimate creature. Not 100% of all this, though.

I was gonna say Islam but respectfully, that concept of an afterlife actually existing where you are swimming in vaj seems way out there.

Any afterlife that preaches permanence is full of crap. So Im going to infinite torture or pleasure because of a limited sample size on earth?

I do believe in an afterlife but it will be fleeting just like this life is. Maybe its forever maybe its not but anyone claiming to know or claiming permanence (outside of complete blackness of death which is a possibility) is clueless

I dunno, burning in eternal hell sounds a lot worst. Having the chance to be reborn as a human seems okay.

Yeah, man. You don't have to go to Valhalla. You can go to Folkvangr and be with Freyja and be one with nature or you can go to Helgafjell which is the holy mountain and live eternity in a similar way that you lived your mortal life. The Norse were pretty damn progressive for their time in terms of culture and religion.

How did you prepare this whole topic without realizing you don't have any real information on the subject? When you started making that list you didn't think "oh shit, I actually know nothing about religions and what they believe"?

Valhalla is eternal battle, eating drinking and sleeping. Definitely a warriors life. Doesnt sound too bad honestly.

Heaven is more then just sitting on a cloud and singing hymns. Basically you get all of your good desires and loie eternally with your loved ones. Imagine going to awesome concerts everyday, a sports game, riding around in the fastest car possible, fishing, hunting, and the one I want which is unlimited games and movies from any era and time. Basically whatever your heart desires that isnt sin filled like killing someone over and over will probably be what you get.

This might be difficult to believe but I wasn't really hoping to inspire a high level academic discussion on theology when I posted a Current Events topic on gamefaqs.gamespot.blogspot.ytmnd.net

Thing is though (maybe depending on the particular denomination), none of it is gonna be the really good shit is it?

I have to give up all my vices to get in the good good place, but once i'm there it's not like i'll be dropping acid and banging strippers will I. It's gonna be good clean wholesome fun and I don't know if I have that in me

Which is not desirable seeing how Nirvana is an escape from reincarnation as reincarnation is viewed as a punishment and adding of sorrows.

What happens there isn't much discussed as what does not happen there.
I.e. no sex in heaven.

But you might glimpse from the angels and what they do how it is.
They kinda do stuff like appear to humans and fight armies, etc.

Maybe God makes a new world and the saved people are the angels for that world.

Well I mean, yeah strippers probably be out. But who knows about drugs like marijuana and acid. No heroine or meth for sure. But who knows. Also I'm sure any tv, movies or games probably wont be exactly wholesome. Same with soem music. So maybe certain things off limits and you probably wont even think about them anyways.

Not really seeing how that is a tenet of Bhuddism. Like the whole point of Bhuddism is to escape reincarnation.
