A Saratoga County man has tested positive for the latest strain of the virus first detected in the U.K. last month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on a Monday afternoon conference call. The man had not traveled recently, leading state officials to believe he got the virus through community spread. The governor says the man is linked to a jewelry store in Saratoga Springs. He advised anyone who had contact with the N. Fox Jewelers at 404 Broadway between Dec. 18-24 to get tested immediately. (The store has been closed since Dec. 24).

if a virus is too deadly the spread dies, as there are no longer any available hosts. look at something like ebola.

I didn't say it was as deadly as a variola major strain of smallpox to the point it would instantly kill any hosts within seconds. Most likely deadly enough to cause concern hence the lockdown response we are seeing from the UK and we all know the news/media will take in consideration of the stock market's feelings first. Trust me, if it was less deadly then they we would know because that benefits the stock market.

The virus isn't trying to evolve, it simply mutates. The mutations are completely random. If the mutation happens to be beneficial, theres a better chance of reproduction. This is the fundamental core of evolution. High school biology stuff.

He's not wrong. Mutations are random. When life is created with a beneficial mutation. It reproduces slightly better than those that did not inherit the mutation. Over the course of millions of years, this repeats itself and only the things with the most beneficial mutations remain.

Why do much brown and green shit in nature and not so much rainbow or neon pink? Because the brown and green shit could hide from predators better. The neon pink shit all got eaten.

A virus generation is extremely short though so you can see tangible evolution within a short period of time.
