Some on my FB even saying stuff like they cant wait for the check to hit so their back account says $600.40. Do a lot of Americans really not even have 600 in their bank account right now?

Or it just happens to be the demographic getting the check in the first place. More likely to have nothing in bank account right now.

A good percentage of Americans don't have savings and live paycheck to paycheck.

I think people are forgetting this is a stimulus check, as in to stimulate the economy, as in you should spend the money.

Now if there bank account says $600.40 thats just sad and probably not truthful as most banks will charge you a monthly fee if you dont have the minimum of I think $50 in your account.

I think a lot of banks have waved their fees during this pandemic. Like there used to be a time you were limited to iirc 6 savings account withdrawals/transfers now it unlimited.

Yeah. Technically I been living under a rock. I havent had much contact with my friends in 9 months so I don't know their money issues. I thought the average person at least had enough for food, rent, etc every month.

If they depending on a one time $600 check that is extremely sad. Once that $600 is spent they might not get another check from the government for a while.

You should see how many people bought new cars with that last stimulus check.

I think I read somewhere pre-pandemic that over 50% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. So it doesn't really surprise me.

It's mostly gonna be people who see $600 as a lot that are gonna post about it. People with thousands of dollars or more don't have much reason to be excited. And a lot of people definitely have a problem of if they have money they have to spend it on something.

Yes they can, theres plenty of work out there still. If someone is still struggling after all the money and benefits given to people this year theres probabaly not much more anyone can do for them.

No. At the median household income in the US, you'd still get the whole $600.

I don't qualify for it, and don't need it because covid actually worked in favor of me getting more work this year, but a lot of people have been off or part-timing.

I dont think the first thing on poor peoples minds is how shameful theyll look for being poor, desperate, or being happy that theyll be getting the assistance they need.

They werent, and never were designed to support individuals or familys for anywhere near that length. Not then or now even. So why people are talking as if they always could is baffling to me.

You literally just said if someone is still struggling after said benefits, there's probably not much more anyone can do for them. You're the one acting like they can support individuals or families for that length.
After said benefits most people finance wise should have been in a much better position after then they were before is what I meant.

If they couldnt recover even after that then idk what else to say.

The minimum wage in some states is like $7.25 per hour. I don't see how anyone can survive on that kind of money. I make 3 times as much and it barely covers all of my monthly bills.
