Since it on sale on the steam store and wondering if it just as good as 2 or worse?

I'm one of the biggest Borderlands fans out there and this one just sucked.

On pc, definitely. Consoles, no. Load times on consoles are some of the worst I've ever encountered. The reason I haven't played any of the dlcs. But it's a fun romp.

Story is less interesting but honestly story always took a backseat to the game itself anyway for me.

Shooting feels real now, explosions have weight, you can knock enemies flying with grenades and shotguns and stuff.

HUGE variety in world designs so there's a lot of scenery to explore.

It's the first Borderlands game since the original that really motivated me to play it multiple times with different characters. And the skill system is expanded now so you can get more mileage out of one character with different builds - like Moze has Iron Bear that's like a mecha suit you pilot, and you can swap out the armaments and their effects from the skill tree screen. So you can have a flamethrower on one arm and a nuclear weapon on the other (that's... a terrible combination but fuck it it could be fun!).

Would say it's worth playing through Tales from the Borderlands first if you haven't yet, it's not *too* long and it will explain a lot of what happened to various characters.

Gameplay kicks the shit out of BL2 but the story in 3 is just blegh and nothing will change that. Worth picking up for slaying some memester desert hobos I guess? The Kreig DLC interests me but im waiting on a complete collection years down the line with all DLC instead of throwing full price their way.

I mean you can get cheap now since its on sale. Yea, thinking about getting it. Is the online still active?

No, it's easily the worst and least fun in the series.

Gunplay is the best it's ever been and it's really fun to loot and kill enemies.
Main story is an atrocity and should not be taken seriously. Luckily the dlc stories are a bit better.
I say it's worth it, yes

I sunk countless hours into BL2 and took four characters to max OP and the other two into the 50s or 60s.

That said, 3 kinda sucks. The gunplay is a huge improvement but thats about it. The story and new characters are hot garbage. The classes and skill trees are relatively uninspired. Enemy variety is severely lacking. Online matchmaking is nonexistent (the single biggest offense IMO). The OP levels are replaced with mayhem modifiers which just introduce random modifiers that are more distracting or frustrating than fun. Raid bosses have been replaced with raid missions, and there are only two.

Dont get me wrong, I still took 3 characters to max level in 3 (well whatever was max level at the time) but I havent played the game at all since maybe March and dont plan to anytime soon.
