It looks like a cheap Dark Souls clone.

I argue that Nioh looks like a PS3 game. I cannot be convinced otherwise.

Its games are made of chapters and not an open world, so do not expect labyrinths or a connected world like in Dark Souls.

Enemy types are too repetitive in Nioh games. Not impressive. Dark Souls presents a new enemy every few steps and almost never recycles.

But Nioh's combat is strong, better than Dark Souls. Boss battles are just as demanding and you will die. A lot.

Nioh and Nioh 2 are worth a play through for fans of the genre!

Imagine that a development team created a ninja gaiden type of action game. As they are showing it to management the boss says no I said I wanted it to be like dark souls and hands the team a list of dark souls features - bonfires, losing souls on death, shortcuts, etc. the team scrambles to add all these in.

thats what nioh felt like to me, an intense action game with dark souls stuff tacked on

Both are great games but I go with Nioh due to the gameplay being more enjoyable to me.
Dark souls wins it for me with levels and Sakuraba music lol.

No, it's not a cheap clone. It's a Soulslike, but the combat is a million times better. But it's also mission based instead of having a seamless world.

Nioh recycles shit upon shit. Nioh 2 had all of Nioh 1's very few, repeated and tired enemy types plus maybe an additional 10? I was kind of embarrassed for Team Ninja.

nah, it has its own identity and is worth a play if you're a fan of the genre. it's more like an Action game ala DMC than DkS, IMO

The ki pulse and guardian spirit mechanics are interesting but overall, the game lacked a lot of the same soul From games have.

Out of all the Souls-likes, this was the only one I didn't finish. And I even finished Salt and Sanctuary.

It's not a Souls clone, but it does take a lot from Souls, maybe even too much. Like, it has a shortcut system like Souls but it's incredibly stupid to have when you are using a mission based structure where all such progress resets after an hour or so when you finish the mission.

Unless you're using Souls clone in place of Soulslike, in which case, sure you can call it that.
