Its a good console. The controller feels really nice and the U.I. is straightforward. The console itself is quite large. I dont have enough room to place it on the same shelf along with the rest of my PlayStation consoles which is a bummer.

I really dont like the storage for the PS5. Its not a lot and with many games being huge downloads nowadays, itll be used up quite fast unless Im constantly deleting games. Right now, I have Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath, and Demons Souls. Just playing Miles Morales for now and its really short. Ive spent about 4-5 hours on the game and I think Im close to being finished. Glad I only paid $30 for this game.

With PS5 games being $70 now, Im going to start being really selective of what games I buy for this console.

Its good for PS4 games and PS4 downloads. Everything I have from Persona 5 Royal to even Final Fantasy IX digital runs well.

Do 3rd party games run faster (60fps)? This is essentially a selling point for me to replay something like Prey 2017 at a higher performance.

I think the focus on consoles now will have to be storage capacity. You essentially need 2 TB minimum now to hold an acceptable amount of current gen games.

Yes, but its game specific. Sekiro, for example, will run at 60 FPS. I dont think Prey will because the devs have to update the game in order for it to run at 60 FPS on PS5. When wanting to replay, youll probably to have look into whether or not the devs updated the game for PS5.

my understanding is that you only see performance gains if the game supports a PS4Pro patch

this is one of the many reasons i prefer gaming on PC. when i upgrade my hardware i can replay old games and immediately get performance boosts.

I got Death Stranding for $14AUD the other day. Honestly with that price (which is $125AUD here lol) I'm just going to wait a few months for a price drop.

Damn, that's a real bummer then because I know for sure Bethesda won't do jack shit for any of their PS4 ports now >___>

A goddamn patch? Lawl honestly PS5 is such a brilliantly advertised scam with the way the hardware simply can't enhance video games outright the way a PC can or even XSEX.

Ah well, thanks for responding TC. If it keeps you satisfied in the end, then more power to ya.

It's the same for Xbox. If the game has a 30fps limit then the hardware can't exceed it. The only difference in Xbox's case is they sometimes manually remove the framerate cap themselves and increase the resolutions.

Yeah, Im going to start doing that for any game Im not very interested in playing on release. That Returnal PS5 game coming out in March looks fine but Im totally okay with waiting for a price drop.

Yeah I'm interested in Returnal but that is 100% going to be a game that'll be sold for 50+% discount 6 months after release lol

It makes PS4 games so much smoother. I heard Series X is even better in that regard, but in general any game without a hard 30fps cap will run at 60fps on PS5 and Series X.

Any game with variable resolution scaling will stay at the highest resolution, etc.

woah, even PS4 games w/o a Pro patch? so anything not specifically coded to stay at 30 FPS (ie Bloodborne) will see performance gains?

The storage of the final release vs the launch release of ps3 went from 20 or 60 GB to 500 GB. PS4 never increased, 500gb / 1 tb was always the standard. There were a few 2 tb SE's.

At this point it's just cheaper to have the customer buy more storage if they desire. What sucks is you have to buy a very expensive proprietary drive instead of a plain old drive. I'm sure they'd love to ship them with 5TB drives, but that'd add a hundred to the cost, at least.

As long as its unlocked frame rate, it'll run at 60 fps. So no, not all games require patches.

Only games locked at 30 fps require patches. Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted 4, for instance, along with Horizon, all will run at 30 fps. Hopefully patches for them come out in the future.

Yeah they did a dog shit job of explaining to fans just how short that game is.

Reminds me of Heavenly Sword on PS3. 8-9 hour game, priced as a AAA title for launch (60 USD).

I believe these games are moreso just glorified tech demos, and they're short because they need to get them out for launch.

How the fuck did games go from 8 GBs to 60+ in a single generation. It can't just be graphics right? I get it that games aren't considered "good" unless they cram 100 hours of side quests in them. Is it really just devs just being lazy?

Make sure you're deleting the PS4 versions of those games in your storage btw.

You start to realize that the UI is a lot worse than you thought the more you use it. Especially anything that has to do with parties.

Yes. But if there's a FPS cap it won't go above it.

They'll release "remastered" versions that remove the cap.
