I had read that there's an optional fight with Olgierd if you pick a different dialogue option when the guy is getting executed, so I went back and reloaded the save from before that cutscene.

Holy shit

That was by far the best fight in the game I've had so far, and that ending was so much better than just watching him get a sword in the back. Geralt was speechless.

Preservation, despite being a level 1 Rune is great because it despite going on only one weapon, it applies to both your equipped weapons and armor. It is effectively a straight 20% increase to both weapons and armor.

If you like to use Whirl then Severance is great. It turns Geralt into spinning death.

I never messed with armor ones, preferring to just load up all my armor with Greater Quen Glyphs.

I genuinely think the Von Everec Manor quest is one of the best quest ever made in any video game.

I'm in complete agreement. That was an immensely powerful story, and now I'm sitting here just wiping away tears from my eyes after finishing it.

The way it started snowing after I got back from the painting was the perfect way to cap it off. I hope Iris is at peace.

Saved Olgierd.

He had done terrible things, to be sure, but no one deserves what O'Dimm had in store for him, and I think a lot of it wasn't really his fault since he was under the effect of the pact.

yea, that's the ending I went with, too.

just discovering Olgierd's past, figuring out why the way he was, and having him be "normal" again after you beat Gaunter was written really well, IMO, and that's why I really liked their characters (as well as the supporting cast).

I just happened to think: Shani was leaving for the front, but wouldn't she just have to turn around and come back, since the war is on the verge on ending?

Actually, on that note, it kinda surprises me how few people seem to be aware that Radovid is dead. I recall a single line of dialogue in one of the quests that mentioned it, and the guards are still walking around saying "Long live Radovid!" and things like that.

They are kinda hard to compare.

I think the story of HoS is better, but B&W is just huge and drops you into a setting entirely unlike any other in the game.

Also, don't know if you've noticed or not, but you already met Gaunter once before. You talk to him at the beginning of the main game, when you're looking for Yen. He's the guy you sit with at the inn at White Orchard. The one that disappears when you're looking away

Yeah, I remembered him from White Orchard. I also noticed him a couple times in the background during the DLC. He was dressed as one of the guards who showed up at the auction house when the alarm went off.

Finally got around to finishing the fistfight quests. It's interesting that, with the way the fistfight mechanics work in the game, it was actually easier to fight the troll and the bear than most of the human enemies.

I like the visual of Geralt using that tiny knife to cut the giant's head off. I'm imagining that the cutscene ends, and then he spends the next 5 minutes just sawing at the neck.
