10) Alaska- Whattt, why is Alaska only #10....Because not that many people live in Alaska and it takes a certain type of person to willingly live in this state lol.

9) Wisconsin- We get it, it's cold af but there's bars and delicious fried food with cheese everywhere

8) Montana- Do you ever see people posting their Glacier national park vacation in January? Hmmmm I wonder why not!

7) Iowa- Iowa is that state with enough people but lacks anything to negate its winters.

6) Minnesota-stat wise, Minnesota has the harshest winters out of the continuous states, buttt it's culture makes up for it.

5) The Dakotas- It gets super cold there, but it doesn't get as much snow as the other states which saves them from easily being a top 3 choice

4) Massachusetts- expensive af with lots of snow....no thanks Jose

3) Maine- Maine would've made a great location for beyond the wall in Game of thrones... There's also a reason why most of the people live on the coast and inland Maine is a desolate wasteland.

2) Washington- The winters here have given us blues rock n roll, twilight, and the ring...This is what seeing only rain and overcast for 7 months out of the year will do to you. I kid you not, I went here at the beginning of June and I overheard "Wow, this is the first time I've seen the sun since January" constantly!! Exit the temperate areas and you are basically in Montana.

Honorary mention: Upstate NY, but NYC is the only relevant part of the state lol

1) Michigan- I've never been there, but you know it's bad when Canadians complain about the winters there. Michigan has the perfect combination of being wet, snowy, and overcast most of the year....yuck...congrats on #1

I live in SW Washington, so I'm sure I don't get the worst of it, but I don't see how we could be second-worst. It's not that bad. The biggest issue is how badly people drive when it does snow, since we don't get much in my area.

I'm enjoying these US state topics. I've heard West Virginia winters can be surprisingly brutal.

Montana in the winter doesn't sound bad at all if you're near hot springs. Bozeman is great in this regard (as well as being a great place in general).

I live in San Jose but Ive been all over the Bay Area, south towards LA and San Diego. Up north near Redding, Eureka, Mt. Shasta, Evergreen. It sucks here during every season.

Lake Placid in late December was so depressing, it was like hell. Not just because of the single degree temperatures and snow/ice everywhere, but since upstate NY is so barren it feels like a horror movie.

I've lived in Fairbanks AK for 4 years. I'll still take -40 to -60 in AK over a New Hampshire winter (which you omitted while putting MA and ME on the list ;-; )

Wisconsin isn't so bad. It can regularly get ti -40 in places with windchill but we prepare hardcore for that shit

i'm in south michigan and it's not that bad. problem is when it does snow most people are dumbasses and don't know how to drive in it but nowhere near as bad as some other states that barely get snow and they shut down everything for a half inch of snow.

but northern michigan and definitely the upper peninsula i wouldn't live in. i have friends do and they get so much more snow than the southern part.

but yea i'd knew would be top 3 at least.

I've been on the west coast for only about two years and both areas I've lived in over here haven't really gotten that much snow, and I love it.

it can actually be worse in areas that aren't used to snow because the snow gets all wet and icy and people can't drive worth **** and then the city closes

Washington winter is not bad. Never below freezing and the rain is usually just a drizzle. Don't know how anyone could prefer a midwest winter to this. I've never even felt cold this winter and it's January.
