Rian Johnson directed and wrote Brick, Looper, and Knives Out and directed the best episode of Breaking Bad but somehow Last Jedi is one of the worst movies ever made. For Druckmann, he wrote Uncharted 2 and directed and wrote Uncharted 4 and Last of Us 1 but somehow Last of Us Part II is one of the worst video games ever made. Huh, really weird how that works. I guess it has nothing to do with the fact that they dared to make a sequel that was bold and progressive instead of pandering to entitled nerdy white men.

Johnson was always bad. Looper is generic af and the script of Knives Out is a mess.

Druckman is fine. His hate comes from a very weird vocal minority of gamers. TLOU2 was still lauded by nearly everyone.

Johnson-Looper was average I don't see why people keep acting like it was some great work of art. And TLJ was a mess. If you think about it for longer then second you see all these issues with the plot .

my only star wars related beef with rian is he said something about not caring about star wars lore or something. but not liking tlj doesn't make me extra hate rj since there have been 6 bad/mid main star wars movies in row imo.

loved knives out and his breaking bad episodes.

Knives Out was made after Last Jedi and people seemed to universally like it. I wonder how it will be for Druckmann's next project.

I wouldn't call rian Johnson a hack, but TLJ was a garbage film and ruined the sequels and anything star wars coming after them. I jsut dont care for anything after episode 6. I like the mandalorian but knowing where everything is going kind of ruins it honestly.

As far as tlou2 goes, it has the same kind of feeling I get from TLJ or the last season of game of thrones. It ruins the first one and jsut has character assassination all over it. O feel it could have been written better. How Joel died was pretty stupid and making abby's group seem like the good guys and some of the lazy writing on it messes up the story in my opinion. A lot of people liked abby though and she was pretty cool but there was jsut story elements that ruin it.

TLJ is a mess, I'll give you that. but honestly it's way better than the Star Wars mainline films on either side of it.

Rian Johnson is an excellent filmmaker when he can just do what he wants though. Knives Out and Brothers Bloom are both fantastic.

also, Knives Out came out after TLJ. so his foray into Star Wars was more like a blip than anything else

That movie was entertaining solely because of Craig's super hammy performance. None of the supporting cast did anything. The big reveal makes no sense, and don't forget "the world's dumbest car chase." Writing is not Johnson's strong suit

I haven't seen his other films, tho I do want to see Knives Out. Or did, anyway. But him having good films doesn't preclude him from making a bad SW film. I don't think TLJ was a particularly competently made film, but it's not outright bad I suppose. I didn't like it though

Your sentiment regarding those movies/games is pretty dumb, but I do agree that TC is just gimmick posting as an insufferable progressive for...some reason. I guess to trick spiteful, right-leaning people into doubling down on their stances? IDK

The Last Jedi really didn't go in that different a direction though.

Johnson was always a hack, Druckmann decided to sabotage his own game franchise and lost all good will as a result.
