34 y/o Gemma Arterton has revealed that she was WRONG to have taken on the BOND role when she was 21 because it was SEXIST!!

Gemma says she was "poor as a church mouse" when she took on the role after beating out 1500 hopefuls

She now sees "so much wrong" with 007 female characters with sexist stereotypes perpetuated in the films

She starred in Quantum of Solace in the role of an intelligence operative, Strawberry Fields who falls in love with 007

She said "At the beginning of my career, i was poor as a church mouse and i was happy just to be able to work and earn a living. I still get criticism for accepting Quantum of Solace, but i was 21, i had a student loan, and you know, it was a Bond film. But as i got older, i realized there was so much wrong with Bond women. Strawberry should have just said no, really, and worn flat shoes"

Like all bond women, they become romantically entangled with the lead character as they are relegated to sexual objects for him rather than a sidekick to save the world.

Gemma prefers her most recent acting gig in the UK called Black Narcissus as he's had a mild success in Hollywood with Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia being her biggest roles but ultimately stayed within the UK Film Industry .

I still get criticism for accepting Quantum of Solace

With the exception of rabid fans chewing out actors/actresses (i.e. Jake Lloyd, Kelly Tran, etc), what do some people realistically expect these actors/actresses to do? Demand the role be re-written or they cancel the contract? Do some people feel these actors/actresses have that much of a pull to make a difference for minor/support characters?

And give up some income and potential foot in the door toward other roles? I am trying to understand the logic behind this or is there nothing to understand? Is this a simple case of people going beyond "voting with their wallets"?
