Judging by the screenshot/thumbnail there, was he an activist for making clothes out of people he abducted?

That guy (probably):
My goodness you're cute
Your flesh I shall loot
To fashion, oh yes, a beautiful suit

some of our less savvy posters here would argue that he's a plant sent by me to make fox news look stupid

but what actually happened is that i don't have to make them look stupid because they do that on their own

This shit happens more often than you'd think, especially when somebody is deliberately impersonating somebody. A great case is the BBC, perhaps the most respected news outlet in the entire world -- certainly more respected than any media in the USA -- which interviewed the wrong guy for a segment and, because he didn't let on, we got a hilariously epic interview which starts with a panicked reaction that the journalist doesn't pick up on.

If it can happen at the BBC, it can happen anywhere.

Maybe by deluded people that lap everything the BBC say as gospel maybe. Everyone else sees them for the joke they really are, this of course isn't limited to their news, but the BBC in of itself.

I'm honestly not sure how much kool-aid it takes to dismiss the BBC outright, but it's probably not a healthy amount. The BBC is one of the world's best-known and most widely-respected media outlets. Which isn't to suggest that it's problem-free, but it tends to be better than most outlets (not that it's necessarily a high bar, but the point stands)
