It seems 2020 wasn't done yet. We are one! R.I.P

Oh shit.

Also you list Brodie Lee, but I imagine most people would know him better as Luke Harper.

That was his last in ring name. As he hasn't wrestled for WWE for a while you'll be surprised how many folk know him by this name. It matters not anyway. I'm generally shocked he died. I thought he was off TV due to storyline.

But he was with the WWE for like 10 years vs... less than a year for AEW? >_> tbh, I mention it because when you said the name, I had no fucking clue who were you talking about but then I saw the photo and was like, "Oh shit, that's Luke Harper!"

Otherwise I'm always surprised that people watch AEW.

It's fucking insane since offhand I can't remember him having any serious injuries in the past and he was only 41.

Looking at the wiki, apparently he had an injury that took him off TV. COD was supposedly a lung issue, which I'm guessing probably wasn't related to whatever that injury was.

You shouldn't be.

he was only 41.

This is the biggest kicker. When old I expect it. I don't when young and yes I'd consider 41 young.

COD was supposedly a lung issue, which I'm guessing probably wasn't related to whatever that injury was.

Probably not. His last match was a dog collar match where he lost the TNT title. It was a good match but I wouldn't be surprised if he picked up a injury during that match. This lung issues seems to have come out of the blue as I've never heard about him having this before now.

OMG

I was wondering what injury he may have had...
He was only in AEW for a few months, got a big title win, then like 2 weeks later abruptly dropped it back to the previous guy and was off tv ever since. I had no idea it was that serious!

Fuck 2020

RIP, Luke/Brodie. It's a shame he didn't get a chance to get a big push till this year after leaving WWE. He was by far the most talented member of the (core) Wyatt Family, but the least utilized.

The Bray/Orton feud was both so bad and such a missed opportunity. He was getting over w/ fans, WWE should've put him in the title match and made it a triple threat, give him a big push.

Now I wonder if his health issues are the reason his AEW push got derailed so fast.... :(

Debatable. Bray isn't much of a wrestler, but he's got some incredible mic skills. Luke/Huber was big enough and talented enough that he could have fit a roster in any era, but I can't really recall him ever cutting much of a promo. Did he talk much in AEW?

I think the saddest part (beyond the death itself) is that he was kept down by the hack(s) running WWE, finally got a chance to prove his worth, then boom.

I hope for the sake of his legacy that they keep him in the upcoming AEW game and have a little tribute or something. Owen's widow keeping him banned is criminal, and it would suck for that fate to befall Brodie Lee too. I get why she hates WWE and Vince, so maybe they could license him as a legend to the AEW game too. Give him somewhere to shine.

Here is the last promo he ever delivered:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEfGXD2VrvY

He was good on the mic. We just didn't know b/c WWE wouldn't even let him talk for most of his time there.
And I've never found Bray that compelling on the mic, he rambles on way too long and repeats himself week after week. He's not bad, but definitely overrated. Brodie was overall more talented.

Yeah, this caught me way off guard earlier.

I was taking a break from Fenyx Rising, and this was the last thing I expected to hear.

It's one thing for wrestlers to die in their 40's, but that's not something you'd expect so much from this generation of wrestling and especially not an active wrestler.

I personally wasn't a fan of the guy, but this is just awful and I feel terrible for his family.

Which isn't a terrible promo, but I wouldn't say it was great. His facial expressions don't sell it at all.

And technically a lot of top talent with good mic skills wind up repeating a lot of their same material. That's not something to Bray, even though he tends to do it a bit more and, honestly, the rambling probably at least partly ties into his gimmick where he's trying to portray an unhinged character. Otherwise it's weird that you criticize Bray for rambling and post a clip where Luke/Huber is getting pretty rambly.

What, you don't want to be an "independent contractor" who can only work for the WWE? =p

The major wrestling companies tend to be kinda shit.

Probably not. He was still getting a push as the leader of the dark order and he was AEW champ and had a great feud with Cody. Hell they even have Sting now maybe going for the TNT title. The TNT title is the next best thing as to the AEW championship.

Bray was the most talented Wyatt member on mic, creatively and I don't mind his wrestling skills. More to the point the Fiend persona and The Firefly Funhouse are awesome and this is mostly due to Brays creative mind. I loved Erick Rowan and Luke Harper as a tag team but I full believe like Jon Moxley(Dean Ambrose) and Miro(Rusev) they are better in AEW. Brodie had some great promo work. Some of my favourites are with Cody Rhodes and John Silver.
