'Incel' has become the new trigger-happy term for SJWs to use to label anyone against them we don't have to resort to proper argumentations and reasoning anymore. It's like saying practically anything miniscule negative about females gets you the label now, even if it's some constructive criticism or something not even relevant to the female gender.

exactly this. Used to be 'virgin' or 'internet normie' or 'neckbeard', but I guess these grew out of fashion, huh.

Most people aren't virgins, most people use the internets and having a beard is pretty normal these days. Thus they look for new derogative terms to use. It's also pretty sad to see how we have categorised these terms differently. If you just go to wikipedia for example, me using 'SJW' is apparently considered pejorative but using 'incel' is actually a perfectly normal term to label people as even if they don't belong to the real incel community or aren't actually virgins.

But it's not often being used to call actual bitter men and sometimes women (female incels exist as well), it's being used primarily by the butthurt entertainment media to deflect from legitimate criticism of a game, movie, art, etc..

There was a topic a while back where I was shocked to learn incel doesn't mean involuntarily celibate. I was told people can be one and not the other and it seems more linked to a variety of misogynistic movements which do not require you to be involuntarily celibate to be an incel.

Sometimes, sometimes not. Like TC said, it's mostly used now as a derogatory term to make fun of anyone who makes any form of criticism of women. But like I said, it's just what happens when a new term gets mainstreamed like that. At worst I usually say "that's a very incel like thing to say" when someone posts something incredibly ignorant about women in general.
