True. But, even more to the point I'm trying to make, if you think stimulus is bad because it's not well-targeted, then you should be incredibly mad at Trump and the republicans. The Democrats have fought against them and successfully got UI enhancements added onto the bill over their objections. Mcconnell and trump originally wanted $600 stimulus payments to the exclusion of $300/week in UI.

It's really hard to accept that politics are so broken in this country that we can't provide citizens the means to stay afloat during a global pandemic. There is such a huge disconnect between actual people and those making the decisions.

Right. I'm pretty sure that's because everyone already went home for Christmas, not because there's some procedural or constitutional reason otherwise as some people are suggesting. Though I could be wrong of course. I think the only reason people are there at all is to prevent Trump from making recess appointments

You have to keep in mind that deficits are bad for countries. There are millions of open jobs in the US that people can apply to.

Jobs that pay a lot less then the ones they lost and possibly have a risk of getting the pandemic. It's also to boost the economy that has been disrupted by the lockdowns and fear of the pandemic. It's more then jsut getting a handout.
