Stefan Lfven has been leader of the Socialdemocratic Party since February 2012 and Prime-Minister of Sweden since October 2014.

He was the perfect choice as party leader back then because hes a good negotiator and the SocDems were in disarray after 2 consecutive election losses (2006 and 2010). He united the party and led them to a substantial victory over two term PM Fredrik Reinfeldt (Conservative party leader) in 2014. He then got re-elected narrowly in 2018.

My hope was that he would retire during this term because he feels so old and tired but nope, seems like he is now hooked on power and if he is allowed to run again the SocDems will lose for sure in 2022. Bloody hell. The party needs fresh blood at the top.

Lfven is a clown, who barely ever knows what he's talking about
And he talks out of his ass regularlt, especially when it's blame-avoidance time

What initially was refreshing about him was that being party leader was his first political job. Hes a trained welder who ended up doing union work and became leader of the Metal Workers Union. He then got chosen as SocDem leader. But now he feels like a less polished career politician, yes.

Most parties can work together despite the public tone sometimes being nasty so that is good at least. What kind of party would you like?

He worked as a welder from 1979 to 1995.
