The pardons reflected Trumps apparent willingness to give the benefit of doubt to American servicemembers and contractors when it comes to acts of violence in war zones against civilians.

Canada committed the worst atrocities of WWI but nobody cares because winners write history. But they were no better than the Japanese were in WWII, except instead of also doing sexual assaults it was just doubling down on murdering anyone that surrendered. Every side does sketchy stuff in war. Most of it is just better publicized now. Being victorious usually just means you get away with stuff like burning down villages or dropping leftover bombs on Dresden.

I assume you are very much aware the US recognizes the authority of the court, only for non-Americans? To the point that you have a law, that if the court were to ever have the "audacity" to try an American, you are required to declare immediate war on the Netherlands.
