Title

My brother's friend decided to get rid of his Xbox and gave it to him, so now we suddenly got a bunch of free Xbox games, and among those were Origins and Odyssey. (He also got Red Dead 2, Far Cry 5, Titanfall 2, Fallout 4, and other stuff)

The last Assassin's Creed game I've played was Black Flag and based on the few gameplay snippets I've seen, the series has changed drastically it seems.

So yeah, which one should I start with? I haven't yet experienced the "ubisoft fatigue" since the last ubisoft game I played was black flag, so either of the games would be a fresh experience for me.

Odyssey is much better imo

Origins introduced a lot of great mechanics but Odyssey improved on them and has a much better story and world

Origins is better for me. I love Greek mythology but I found Origins has less busy work and grinding in order to even complete the main quest. I found the story more appealing too. I do like Odyssey but the grinding was terrible.

Origins is a more concise story, Odyssey is a more robust world. I personally liked Origins better, but only by a little. Both are great games.

Start at Origins, because it's harder to go back to older games without as many improvements. It's still really good, but you might find it weird to play in reverse.

It stopped being Assassin's Creed 3 games into the series. Doesn't make it any less fun to play.

At least now Ubisoft has stopped trying to make it a yearly franchise and/or a playground for all the crazy ideas they are too afraid to make into their own series.

That's true.

I tried to go back to Assassin's Creed 2 a while back and I had a bit of trouble at first with all the missing features the newer games had.

you mean like hidden blades, actually killing strong enemies in stealth, no rpg level gating, actual eagle vision, etc?

Well, like I said, the last AssCreed game I played was Black Flag, so it wasn't as much of a difference.

But yeah, I'm sorta apprehensive since I know that the newer ones don't really play the same as the ones I'm used to.
