You should read about their distant water fishing fleet - there are lots of resources on the subject out there.

And they are certainly developing infrastructure and dependences in foreign countries, including military ties.

They are a superpower and they have allies but not as strong as the US. Trump was doing a great job in tarnishing the US amongst our own allies for literally no reason though!

As for Chinas neighbors....they all hate China except North Korea and slightly Philippines which used to be always 100% strong with the US.

Anyone who works in any kind of business anywhere in the world knows that China already owns fucking everything, they're just being really quiet about it on the political level.

For example, I worked in the mining sector in Australia and guessed who owned half of the mines?

Not even kidding. Entire patches of australian land the size of American states just...belong to china.

China's ramped up production of vessels in the last several years and is now technically larger than the US Navy.

They have a ways to go to develop the type of infrastructure needed for large-scale distant deployments, but they are a pretty serious threat already.

China doesn't have a blue water navy, and it barely even has aircraft carriers. At the moment, anyway, it just can't do the kinds of things the US does to protect power around the world.

Aircraft carriers are nice but not necessarily required for force projection in an age of guided missiles and nuclear-powered submarines.

China is gaining influence but its current power is definitely exaggerated by some who want to see the US fail.

lmao all these defenses are lame. Projection power is being able to send your army to Belarus or Argentina in a moments notice to get **** done. China could not even invade Taiwan if it had to.

But the trade agreements and everything. Yes, but none of these are mutual and most of these are just one sided deals that benefit China. The issue with these are that these aren't solid and could fall apart easily once a better trade partner is available.

France/UK during the phony war are good examples and a lot of the mistakes happened during the early stages of the war. The US was lucky enough to come in later and know what not to do, but still had a lot of issues too. Germany literally got in over it's head because it defeated the Allies with blitzkrieg something the more powerful German empire failed to do.

WW3 will test the advancement of AI, missile defense system effectiveness, are robotics and drones OP, are aircraft carries massive liabilities or are they still king of the seas, and etc. We won't know the answers to these until WW3 happens.

Modern Amphibious assaults are the most complicated and resource intensive thing a country can perform. I know D-day is seen as cool because of Saving Private Ryan, but that was a pretty huge military accomplishment.

Look I'll give you like one more shot here man, just to give you the benefit of the doubt.

You do realize there's a vast difference in logistical and materiel requirements when coordinating a landing of a multinational force in a country that is thousands of miles away, compared to the invasion of a territory that's less than a hundred miles away from your mainland, right? Moreover, there have been myriad technological improvements made in the past century that drastically change the nature of amphibious landings.
