Current Events > Why exactly were energy drink vending machines removed from schools?

First it was soda machines, then they got replaced by vitamin water/juices which have just as much sugar. Now energy drinks are being taken away from people that need them most. Teenagers need a lot more sleep than adults and are expected to be at school early in the morning when it's better for them to be asleep due to their growing bodies.

everything is unhealthy when consumed excessively. There has never been a link between negative side effects and energy drinks. The people that have been hospitalized from energy drink consumption are the people that consume more than 8 in a day. Coffee has more caffeine than energy drinks. Starbucks has been more caffeine/sugar than any energy drink.

You can't expect kids to perform well in school when you except to be in class by 8am. Now everyone gets to ride a bus to school, drive, or live within walking distance. You have kids that wake up at around 4-6am to be able to make it to class on time. Energy drinks/coffee are a necessity if you want students to be attentive throughout the day.

You do realize Schools predate kids using all these energy supplements, eh?

I'd love to see statistics on how the kids who drink them actually perform compared to the ones that don't.

I think the right approach would be to just let kids sleep a bit more, put a bit less stress on them so they actually have energy to learn...no?

Oh ok...

Some students have part time jobs to take care of their kids.

SCHOOLS ARE RAISING STUDENTS TO WORK IN A WAREHOUSE/FACTORY!!! They do not prepare children for careers/trade jobs/skilled labor! THEY DO NOT PROVIDE THE SKILLS NECESSARY FOR CHILDREN TO BECOME INDEPENDENT ADULTS!!!!! They do not raise kids to see other people as people! Be nice to others, but cut out the competition! You're special, but some people are more special than others. Everyone deserves happiness and there's someone for everyone, but we all know some people are just doomed to fail. Building a legacy involves figuring out what is wanted and what needs to be done for that goal. That's the reason why school starts so early and starbucks/energy drink vending machines are removed.

My high school a year or two before I went there used to start late, like around 10:30, giving kids a lot of time to sleep in. The students voted to move it back to early in the morning because they didn't have time to go to work after school. I will always hate those kids for denying me sleep, as well as denying me an excuse not to get a job.

I dont think millenials are in school anymore unless you count college kids. The oldest zoomers are out of high school already

Furthermore me a older millennial did just that and required no energy drinks. I slept in class some but my grades where good. Basically id stay awake for the teaching moments of class. Id finish any assignment given then sleep the rest. Some classes the teacher was useless outside telling us what page to turn to so I slept more in those classes

Because teenagers don't need them? When i was in highschool, there wasn't any energy drink vending machines. I had to be to school by 7am, which meant getting up around 615 to catch the bus at 625 without needing energy drinks during my junior year and i worked a part time job. They're not a necessity and aren't good for you.

Also remove off-campus lunch. Students have to eat what is served in school. Allowing them access to gas stations/restaurants outside of school would tempt them to eat unhealthy fast food.

They've got a strange reputation cause everyone just knows they're bad for you, despite none of the ingredients actually being unhealthy or harmful, except maybe making it easier to excess on your sugar intake. They're probably just trying to stop the fat children being quite so fat.

Really cause coffee (which I NEVER DRINK, tastes disgusting), soda or juice didn't give me a heart attack last year.

The energy drink did though and I only drank 1 every couple of weeks. I wasn't drinking them daily or doing more than 2 or 3 a day like alot of people do now a days.

Energy drinks are awful for you. Giving kids them then gives them the excuse to stay up late and coast by with energy drinks. It's not just the contents of the can being bad or not, it's the effects and side effects plus the dependency you gain from it being addictive.

Spoilers, this is terrible for you both mentally and physically.

I did this for about 6 years from the age of 16 to 22. I almost was a college drop out. I ended up developing general anxiety disorder, started having panic attacks out of no where, insomnia AND digestive issues.

Kicking them was one of the best decisions ever. I do however have permanent digestive issues. It's impossible to pinpoint the exact issue, but I'm sure my terrible sleep pattern and diet didn't help my developing body.

They don't even make you that focused. If anything, being whacked out on stimulants (inc. caffeine) makes it harder to focus, cos your brain and body can't sit still. They ain't some miracle focus in a can. Maybe if they halved or even quartered the amount of **** in them, they'd be alright.
you are probably part of the 25% of people with genetics who are more affected by caffeine
