There's a couple scenes in Justice League where Flash comes around a corner, and you hear the "super speed" sound and he's animated like there's a streak of Flashes trailing behind him because of how fast he's going. And then the regular person he's coming towards turns, has time to see him coming, and is able to attack or set a trap.

Speedsters are hard to write in a way that's balanced, but still powerful, with out being just "zip zip, you dead"

No excuse, The Incredibles did Dash just fine and that was before the superhero craze.

What episode are you on? The ep where one of the speedsters had to deliver an organ to someone cross country was kinda dumb.

His maximum speed is apparently 190 MPH

This is much different from a guy who can hit light speed, and should be able to casually surpass the sound barrier.

That being said, I'm not defending the JL writers. Flash is one of my favorite characters, and he is very rarely utilized to the extent of what his powers are or should be.

FWIW, Kid Flash in Young Justice is absolutely intended to be slower than the real Flash. There are a few episodes where this is mentioned and I think one where Kid is lapped multiple times by him.

I think you could potentially write speedsters to maybe have to be super careful as a way to offset how broken they are.

Mention how risk of injury increases exponentially compared to speed. Sorta like how the faster you are traveling in a vehicle and you have an impact, the more dangerous the impact is.

Not that they are frail, just something that makes some sense without being too overly contrived.

And anyway, even with his speed, no one should be able to stop him. Honestly No one should ever give Flash a hard time or heck even Superman for that matter and he is slower.

So world of cardboard speech from superman by Justice league unlimited?

in anime cyborg 009 there is a cyborg with super speed who loses control of his speed for a little while causing him to move so fast everything is stopped
in that episode he has to find a way to save people from an explosion without touching them because hell burn them to ashes if he does

thats a limitation anyone moving so fast everything else stops should have

The reason is that a chase scene in every episode, sometimes multiple times would get old and isn't worth the time and effort to write and produce, especially when the hero is the fastest man alive. The alternative is to have a 40 minute build-up for just one fight with the villain of the week, and who wants to see that?

Japan is the best at this because they don't even bother to come up with explanations in their tokusatsu lol. Character walks off screen=Gone forever, no point chasing after. And their villains always have teleportation powers so it's not like there isn't a readily available explanation on hand.
