Like, it was an intentional attempt to recreate an episode on the level of the Pickle Rick episode, and they were so confident in it they were like "haha we'll make a title card so people will call it the vat of acid episode haha". I didn't mind it, it was better than pretty much everything that happened in season 3, but the end of the episode felt fart-huffingly smug and it just rubbed me the wrong way overall with its presentation. It's not that I dislike it, more that its reputation feels forced and I don't think it's any better than the other episodes of season 4 that I liked. I liked the dragon episode so much because I was expecting it to be a piece of shit episode, like who the fuck likes pointless medieval throwback plots about dragons and sorcerers and shit? And everything from ~~Rick soulbonding with the dragon onwards~~ was a goofy, disturbing surprise that caught me off-guard. You can talk about characterisation and subversion all you want, I just think ~~hypersexual orgy dragons are funnier.~~ --- Make it through this year, if it kills you outright. Was pretty good, if a bit disjointed; I like how Morty just rides out that reality where he gets a girlfriend, even when its clearly long past salvaging.
