I still can't get over the flashback of him (allegedly?) killing his wife.
If you ever feel like it, I recommend the book version of OUATIH, written by Tarantino. Very different focus, doesn't contradict anything in the movie, but, for example, the big finale in the movie is mentioned briefly in the first half of the book and then not revisited. There's a lot more focus on Hollywood and Rick Dalton's character, a lot of focus too on the Lancer show, lots more on Cliff Booth and the dog Brandy and more on the Pussycat character.
Anyway, my point: Cliff did kill his wife, intentionally but without planning it. Not allegedly, he did it, with the speargun, and it's literally the next second after the movie cuts away.
I love the movie so it's easy to recommend the book. I love them both.
