Both if you can manage it. Plastic if you can only choose one; I hear that cutting raw meat on wood cutting boards isn't good because it absorbs some of the juices and stuff.

I've read a bunch of sources saying this is a good thing, since the bacteria can't multiply inside the wood and dies off. Idk how accurate that is though.

Fuck it, probably just go with wood and deal with slightly more annoying cleaning.

I'm hearing interesting arguments for and against wood in this topic lol. TBH I'm not an expert, just going by what I heard. A glass cutting board, on the other hand, ruins knives so I'd avoid that if your knife is going to be making contact with the board.

I prefer wood. I have both tho. I have a large chopping block table from an old restaurant I use the most, its rad as fuck.

been reading that there's some hard rubbery ones that are really nice, might get one some time.
