I can understand The Washington Football teams formal name being racist since its based on skin color. Indian though? Im not sure about that. The Cleveland Indians will be changing their name because its considered racists but Im not really sure it is.

When referring to Native Americans "Indians" is incorrect and offensive.

I understand that aspect. Clearly Native Americans arent Indian. However, the overall term isnt actually racist correct? It is more like it is being used incorrectly. The N word only has one definition so there is no dispute what so ever on that.

That is what I was thinking. For that example, its more about the combination of the Logo and the name right? Which means that changing the logo should fix the issue correct?

Im not trying to troll or be an ass or anything like that. Im legit trying to get an understanding.

To some people the term "Native American" is a bit contrived. There are lots of native people who prefer to be called "indian".

It's basically an even more incorrect version of calling all asians Chinese. At least those nations are in close proximity.

I learned quite a bit from this. So the football team name was blatantly racist but Indians and Seminoles (Florida State) arent considered racist by most Indians? Thats what I took away from that

Your takeaway should have been that being portrayed as mascots is not okay but it's super double extra not okay when your mascot is also a racist slur.
