The PS4 cant handle them and it holds back the potential of the PS5 game by accommodating for the PS4s now limited capabilities.

it shouldnt matter that the PS4 has a larger user base. Consoles move on to bigger and greater games, and so should the previous generations user base.

Or the life of the PS4 is coming to an end and PS4 users should upgrade as soon as they can to stay relevant.

Sony doesn't want to make 100+ million PS4s immediately obsolete when the PS5 install base is only a few percent of that and it'll be years before the latter gets remotely close to the PS4's.

Every generation does this, it's not new.

MGSV came out on PS3 and PS4. They want money, this is how they make money. Developers also still haven't had enough time with the PS5 to fully utilize all its power anyways.

This same shit happened with the transition to PS4. I get they may be catering to people who haven't upgraded yet, but I agree they should just make them completely with next-gen in mind. Gives people more incentive to actually buy the new consoles, IMO.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally supposed to release nearly a year before next gen consoles.

The problem is it takes around 3-5 years to make a AAA game and they get next gen hardware like 1-2 years before it releases. Next gen only games at launch doesn't quite time out.

we had to buy several games again when getting the ps4 some even got DLC for ps4 only but we had to buy the entire game and all the DLC released for ps3 again

The game wouldn't have drastically changed in the last year or so. It was content complete last year.

Performance wise I agree, but business wise? This would be an incredibly stupid move. They would lose out on a ton of profit.

The truth is that this game shouldn't be performing as bad as it does on last gen because it was made for last gen at the beginning.

ALLEGEDLY. Because I bet they overhauled development a few years ago for the new generation and because they stayed too long in the concept stage for years before. Which shows because it's not running well on last gen.

I think it's the opposite. They were gradually scaling things back in order to get things to work at all and they struggled handling all of the different platforms. Witcher 3 was pretty rough on PS4 and Xbox One at launch but long term they optimized the game enough to get it working on the Switch. This game is coming in hot and a lot of it is still half-baked regardless of the platform it's on. I can't stress enough that the game doesn't even have traffic AI.
