Diggin' it so far. Lots of crazy Kojima-ness: mysterious phenomena, random chicks in a cave, collecting crates, extend-o-cars, dead marine life, otherworldly monsters, gigantic craters, and baby memories. And that's just the first hour! Gonna go meet the president now.

I played a few hours before my disc stopped working (I ended up buying digitally, but haven't played since), but one thing I really disliked about the game was how often the one dude kept calling you on your codec.

I think it was mostly tutorial stuff, and maybe it stops later on, but the game should give you an option to disable it.

I'm glad it wasn't thrown away like an old Duracell. After all those flashbacks, it was pretty obvious they wouldn't, but still.

Deadman on Codec? Haven't seen too much of that yet, but I can imagine cut-ins get tiresome, just like in MGS games.

Die-Hardman really does radio in a lot. I'd be annoyed, but he's just so polite. Way better than Skullface.

Also got me a bike now to do these long-haul deliveries. It came at just the right time, too. Found the repair garage, too, so the damn thing doesn't look like a melted Terminator with two wheels stuck in it.

yea, that's when I kept getting the radio calls.

it's crazy how frequent they were, but from what I understand, it's not as much of an issue as the game goes on.

I enjoyed DS to for the most part but it never got close to reaching it's full potential, or even being as good as it should have been compared to MGSVTPP. Needed more action, better bosses, better close quarters combat, better gunplay, and more replay value via a chapter select.

I remember going on my first long mission, and the Timefall came and damaged all of my supplies, since I was taking a while sneaking past the BTs.

I had to put the game down for a while, but when I tried to pick it back up, my PS4 was no longer reading discs :/

I bought it digitally, though, so I'll try to give it another chance one of these days.

I think Die-Hardman just seems annoying because he has so many pieces of dialogue that trigger the first time you do an action. Since there's 23423423 actions, they can arrive at a rapid-fire pace. I'd imagine it cools down as the game goes on, but who knows. Again, he's so polite! Reminds me of:

Welp, got ambushed by some BTs after carrying 190kg worth of goodies toward the capital, died, then woke up to a massive crater outside town. Maybe it's for the best -- I doubt there'll be any more BTs in that area anymore, now that there's only a small strip of land to use between the crater and shoreline. Hopefully no LV3 bridges got blown up or something, haha.

i did like to mess with the game mechanics a bit. like i would make my character carry a shit load of stuff just to see how he would handle it. lol >_>

the shadow things and the baby cries were annoying as fuck tho.

I want to build some stuff, but I also don't want jabronis dismantling stuff. At the first Mule camp you go to, I built a high-up watchtower to surveil their stuff, so hopefully that's appreciated by someone, somewhere. Also saw there was a trophy for five-starring all the places in each region, so that's what I've mostly been doing today.

oddly enough, its one of the games i have where i unlocked the most achievements for on PS4. and its not like i was actively trying to get them or anything. lol

I thought it would be cheaper on Black Friday, but it didn't drop by much. I think I got it for $40-ish. Still, I had fun with MGSV for the most part, and DS is having similarly fun open-world adventures. The only thing I can't stand so far is having everything be autosave-only. When it let me do a hard save early on, it got my hopes up, but everything else has just updated that file.

You can do new hard saves at any time. ...I don't remember how to off the top of my head, though, but it's just in the menu somewhere.

Hmm, I think I'm in chapter two still, where I have to deliver some stuff to a lake city. Or cross a lake to reach a city. All I know is that DT explosion damaged most of the stuff I was to deliver, so that ain't good. Dunno if that repair spray fixes things besides the cases, but probably not.

I think the repair spray will fix the container, but not the actual contents. I never actually used the spray, though, so not sure.

As long as the mission doesn't require the stuff be above a certain percent, you should be fine, you'll just earn less Likes, but you can always do side missions for more. I think story missions generally don't care about the item conditions, as long as you get the items to the goal.

Yeah. It plays like a third person action game with heavy emphasis on movement controls. You dont get to pick things to say, its a linear narrative with an open world backdrop.

I might give it a try, then.

I got so fed up with how many there were that I eventually just went f it the moment I could craft rubber bullet weapons and just went into every mule camp in my way full on guns blazing

Funny story: my brother killed every mule and terrorist in his game and burned all of their bodies. For the next 10 hours or so of play he said he never saw another one lol.

Went all the way through that damn mountain pass with 9000 ghosts following me, and it was full of scree and crap so I couldn't use my bike. Then, when I get to the city, I find out I probably left half the packages on my bike, making everything a waste of time.

And yeah, these packags were pretty damn beat up, at least 80% damaged, since I started the mission then did 20 random other missions. They went through the timefall, BT encounters (some probably survived that crater on the outskirts), running and bumping into stuff 'cause I'm carrying 180kg of MacGuffins for the hologram people, etc.

I hope I missed an obvious route, 'cause cutting through the mountains blows. I dunno how Hannibal did it.

Once you can make em, always carry at least a few container repair sprays on hand. They're a lifesaver for treks through timefall.

I see one dude has an AR-15 or something in a profile pic, so I guess Sam ain't gonna be a pacifist for long. Not sure I want to murder all Mules, though...the world would be pretty empty if they don't respawn. (Reminds me of something that can happen in Far Cry 5.)

Yeah, I've been doing that since I started, mostly for really big hauls. The way between Capital Knot City and the nearest waycenter is pretty clear at this point, so I can do ridiculous hauls and use generators along the way to keep the pace. Haven't maxed out the Capital yet, but I five-starred the waycenter, so that's good. Gonna see if there's a good route between the capital and distro center to the west, now. (I always get attacked by BTs en route so far, which sucks.)

It's very much not how you're intended to play the game lol. My brother did it near the end of his play time as an experiment.

Guess I'll see later on what non-MULEs are worthy of murder. I doubt you can use normal firearms against BTs, but who knows what kind of progress we'll make (a feces grenade attachment would be nice). Anywho, just got to the port city, delivered the leftover cases, and apparently need to cross a lake with Fragile. Gonna check it out after I make some tacos.

I haven't gotten onto a game as much as Death Stranding since I played it. Not saying it's the best. It just hooked me the most.

That boss fight in the port city was pretty great, even if another skull-faced dude shows up. Managed to fend off a BT squid with some blood 'nades, which I managed to replicate in other places, like the mountain pass. Shame things respawn so quickly, but it's about a ten-minute window (maybe) to go back to town, do some deliveries, and get through unscathed. Hopefully they'll find some ways to kill these goopy assclowns permanently as the game goes on. Basically no reason to visit that stupid wind farm in the middle of nowhere without it.

Also, Daryl hallucinating BB breaking out of his ersatz womb was pretty great. I wonder if that's the memory merge stuff at work.

I like how he's ranting about how he's connected to death and stuff (reminiscent of the Bane "I was born into it" speech), but still uses a baby battery like regular porters. A real eye-rolling moment right there, haha.
