Im not one to talk about games I havent played yet. But Ill bet my entire life on the fact that Cyberpunk Story will be orders of magnitude better than Death Strandings

I also liked Death Stranding for what it was. But Kojima writes absolute dog shit stories.

Death Stranding's story was great imo and has some powerful moments and amazing imagery. I genuinely don't think Cyberpunk's highs will hit Death Stranding's.

I only skimmed the review, but I don't think that is true. The reviewer specifically gives a number of bugs she's encounter which seems unlikely if you haven't played the game.

If it has flaws then it isn't a 10/10.

I loved death stranding but its story was forgettable at best and awful at worst imo. the resolution of the main conflict was insulting

you can of course use whatever rating system you want for yourself. But generally when people review something with the highest rating possible it means they consider it to be among the best of its medium, not necessarily flawless

So if you played an actual flawless game what would give it what then? A 10/10 or something higher like 11/10? Because doing either one of those options is stupid as fuck and I hope you now realize how shit your "personal rating system" is now, but probably not since you are a person who actually thinks Death Stranding is a 10/10 game so there was never much hope for you.

if you go to the wonderful gamespot.com website, look up a game they give a 10 to, you'll notice they still point out things that the reviewer considered flaws. I'm not singling out gamespot, this is true about basically any publication for any medium. No one starts at a 10/10 and then deducts points for blemishes lol, that would be stupid. You should reserve your best score for the best shit

The big review houses literally can't win

People go to watch their review videos just to hear some other guy say they loved the game they're already going to buy

Their best bet is to just give every game something between an 8 and a 9

Mostly personal tastes for lot of my reasons, but it's flaws are mostly from it's genre rather than it directly, though a certain boss gauntlet could have been done better.

My problem with it was i felt like I had to beat it because people expected me to love it when I would routinely lose interest. Very well made game though it just wasn't for me.

I implore you to try and stick it out because I had the exact same experience of the game initially, and then ragequit after my first time losing a bunch of geo and didn't touch the game for 3 months. But I picked it up again eventually the game clicked (can't remember when, might have been after my first cool boss fight or after I got some movement technique). Whatever it was, I couldn't put it down after that.

This. I'm sure why people get upset when a review doesn't feel the same way about a game as they do, but also I think every one should use a 1-5 rating system since with 1-10 every seems to think anything below an 8 is garbage.

Death Stranding was probably my game of 2019. Amazing. Only gripe was how long Chapter 3 was which was about 1/3 of the game. Story felt kinda stacked in the first and last third and I admit the middle 3rd was a bit of a slog but all in all was my game of last year.

Death stranding was gorgeous and had such an interesting world setting. It's too bad the fundamental part of it (the actual gameplay) was really boring.

Kojima had some great ideas, but much like George Lucas he works best when there's people around to provide feedback and editing.

I personally didn't feel it was boring outside of chapter 3 which does go on a bit and drags the whole game down. outside of that I think it's fine. Just needed better pacing on the story. Atmosphere I felt was spot on with getting that isolated feel perfect.
