How are people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic doing

Very. After being forced back to Canada due to covid, I've sent out at least 150 resumes over a 4 month period. Only 2 of those places ever contacted me back. Both were moving companies. I've never worked as a mover. I've now been working as a mover for 2.5 months... I also drive the truck.

Have to do doordash on the side as well to get some more income because my wife isn't allowed to work yet. Her permanent residence application has been in for over 6 months, normally takes 2-3 months to get the work visa but thanks to covid, it's taking a LOT longer.

I had years of experience in heavy equipment operation, trucking, logistics, etc. but they weren't recent because I was abroad. Turns out none of it matters now. Especially when you have 500 applicants for 1 position and most having more recent experience.

Its limited but not impossible i guess. I lost my job in Feb and it took until august to get a new one.

There were jobs hiring immediately however but not in the fields i wanted.

It's weirdly difficult because I apply to hundreds of employers with my resume and CV with a handful giving me interviews, and yet I get all these apply offers for jobs that are too far, pay less, or aren't what I'm looking for. That said it's a mild frustration due to the US pandemic starting at the same time I've been seeking management titles however I am grateful to still be working (yes I'm aware of corporate's sinister head nodding to that statement).
