A satellite-controlled machine gun was used in last weeks assassination of a top Iranian nuclear scientist, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who was killed in a gun and car bomb attack on the outskirts of Tehran on Nov. 27, was driving on a highway east of the capital when the weapon zoomed in on him using artificial intelligence, Mehr said on Sunday, quoting Commodore Ali Fadavi, deputy commander of Irans Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Various accounts of his death have emerged since the incident. While early news reports said he was caught in a gunfight between his bodyguards, others said that he was fired at by a remote-controlled machine gun mounted on a pick-up truck operated by someone who later fled the country.

Fadavi said on Sunday that the gun fired a total of 13 shots at Fakhrizadeh and managed to target him with such accuracy that his wife, sitting just inches away from him in the same vehicle, escaped injury. He added that 11 bodyguards in separate cars were also accompanying the couple at the time.

The incident is the second targeted killing of a high-ranking Iranian official since January, when outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a drone strike on General Qassem Soleimani.

Tehran has blamed Israel for Fakhrizadehs killing, the fifth assassination of a nuclear scientist on Iranian soil since 2010. Israel hasnt commented on the allegations, however Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had singled out the scientist in a power-point presentation on Irans nuclear program in April 2018.

So youre trying to say that theres no chance of Iran getting nuclear weapons any time soon

Well the lack of collateral damage basically proves this wasn't US technology.

Anyone can make a nuke, really. You can google and find schematics for one in seconds. The hard part is gaining access to the refined materials needed. Even that isn't a large technological feat, just one of cost and availability of the raw materials.

A gun controlled by an artificial intelligence, from a satellite? That's a tiny bit more complex.

he's not wrong to say that nukes are relatively simple. but the thing is he's ignoring the fact that you need a giant fucking supply chain and infrastructure to actually build one from scratch. you obviously need the ore, which requires a fuck ton of mining. to process that you need a fuck ton of industrial scale centrifuges, which require a robust manufacturing infrastructure to even produce. then you've got to run them for a very long time, which requires a massive amount of power.

compare that to the robogun which you could likely source from china or russia with enough money...

lol this sounds like straight up sci-fi bullshit

The only way this is plausible is if the vehicle was marked beforehand to be tracked by some computer vision algorithm (vague gesturing), there was intel on where he was sitting in said car, the path they were taking was known in advance, and there was enough time to set up the "machine gun" in a suitable position and even then that's a huuuuuuuuuuge stretch

If any of the above wasn't the case then this shit is literally impossible through artificial intelligence and computer vision unless Israel is living a few decades ahead of everyone else

No not anyone can "make a nuke"

Yes you can figure out how to build one but you will ultimately kill yourself in the process if you try to do it yourself, from regular old radiation sickness / poisoning. You won't even get to the enriched uranium part.
