It's not a shock that Americans are trying to justify not having uniforms as they don't have them that much in schools. Although there isn't much difference between them and a dress code. Still It's common place over here though to have a uniform in schools and work places. You don't need to give them more ammo. Wearing the same clothes doesn't mean anything. If the kid doesn't have as much money, maybe they have less uniforms, or have to wear the same one more than once in a row. Especially with the clothes being more expensive. It may have been easier with normal clothes to have more options. And bullies will literally bully people with the same clothes on. All it takes is the bully looking better in it. Or having a better looking or newer uniform. I know plenty of bullies, even at my school with uniforms. It doesn't stop bullying, or stop bullying about the clothes (uniform or not). The kid might have a better chance of not being bullied without uniforms, possibly. They could potentially show another side of them. Maybe they like the same something as the bully, which could end up having the bully pick on someone else instead... Maybe it helped in you school, but not mine... Most military members can tell whos what easily. I dont understand it. Its like we have some sort of military-radar of some sort. Not only that, but the uniforms only help if you know the differences. And each branch a couple different one. Different states of military dress clothing. And different normal wear depends on where and when they are in. Like BDUs will still allowed when I came in, but you werent issued them, nor were they selling them at clothing issues. They havent been allowed for years now. We had ABUs, and now those are being faded out. And we have a new uniform.
