Biden isn't exactly the change we needed though.

This pandemic should have been an opportunity to rethink what we're doing as a country but instead it's just going to be more status quo

Hard to say. I think it will be easier to tell once this pandemic is under control and we watch how things play out after that

No, we're witnessing America taking its mask off, revealing a monstrous smiling face, and putting on a top hat while candles ominously alight by themselves, in preparation for the big villain song.

Trump, despite endless mongering, didn't actually do much of anything while President. A Biden Presidency will likely be similar. He might declare a war or two but not against anyone that can actually fight back. In terms of politics I don't think much will change and status quo isn't really a downfall. In terms of the economy? Well, things certainly don't look good and are only likely to get worse. But that's going to hurt most of the world not just the US.

2020 alone is enough to cover for 4 years of a shitty Presidency.

I mean we already know that no stimulus money is coming and we already know Biden is trying to compromise with the same Republicans that have stonewalled any kind of relief for the American people.

Absolutely. This attempted coup, though it may have been ultimately farcical and ineffectual, and the rightwing in this country have set the stage for our future demise.

Of course we don't fully know what's going to happen. But we can reasonably make predictions based off of what we know about our leadership.

It always amazes me when people say stuff like this. He's not even the worst President in the last 20 years let alone century. I don't care if you're on the left or right, I don't see how you can say Trump is worse than Bush and have any idea what you're talking about.

Excellent strawman. I think Bush is worse then Trump therefore I think Trump is the best President ever, right? Were you even alive when Bush was President? I'm betting no.

Nothing is inevitable, but the indicators are poor. The Senate is an anti-democratic veto point which absurdly overweights small, rural states, the Electoral College is much the same, and Republicans have disproportionate power at the state level(and likely will continue to have disproportionate power, for the next decade, at least) and in the courts.
This will inevitably force Democratic presidents to be increasingly reliant on executive power to get things done. The Republicans will become increasingly anti-democratic, and continued institutional decay will likely increasingly lower the bar on a potentially fatal break.

To make matters worse, the Democrats are currently heavily invested in the idea that things are fundamentally fine and no major reforms are required.

What I can tell you is that, before October 16th, 1859, no one thought a Civil War was particularly likely, and yet, a little over a year later, South Carolina seceded. Thats the fun: its almost always impossible to tell when the breaking point happens until afterwards.

Bush was bad for international affairs, but nothing during his term has been as bad as COVID domestically.
