I've read the same statistics but I think the reality is more like men are very pressured to not identifying as bisexual forcing them into one or the other where as women are not so you get less lesbians by virtue of women feeling more comfortable with identifying as bisexual.

The rate for everything is probably a lot more equal than what gets self reported.

Some demographics have weird statistics though. Around 50% of furries are lgbtq and nobody knows why.

I have never been a fan of Ellen Page, but since he is officially trans now that automatically makes me a terrible person who hates people even thought I support LGBTQ+ rights.

Announcing that one is trans does not automatically protect them from criticism, you are fine. Caitlyn Jenner is a perfect example, as they are hated by the masses, and no one seriously gets called a transphobe for that.

Page was a one-note, monotone actor/actress who played the same role in every movie that they were in. I personally couldn't get past the first episode of Umbrella Academy because of it.

Same as people's sexuality, it shouldn't be such a big thing, it shouldn't be a frowned on thing to judge people for, no more than someone having brown hair or blue eyes.

Can a trans person here tell me the proper way to refer to Elliot's past work? In Juno, Elliot was nominated for Best Actress and was credited as Ellen. When referring to past work such as that, do I say "she is good in this movie" or "he is good in this movie"? I know the character would still be considered a "she" since it's a work of fiction. Just not sure how describing the actor's past work in a present tense works.

always use current name and pronouns, even when referencing past events. context will generally explain the rest. edit: unless specifically told otherwise by the individual in question. such a request is unusual, but not completely unheard of.

I don't watch much tv nor movies so I have no idea who he is, but I'm happy for him and hope this only does more good towards trans awareness, representation, and acceptance. And I hope this makes a lot of trans folks, especially kids, comfortable with their own skin and identity.

Why should past events be rewritten because of the present/future? When you're watching the Saiyan Saga in DBZ, you wouldn't say Ultra Instinct Goku fought Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta because at that time they still only had their base forms (and Kaioken and Great Ape form if you want to count those).

they aren't being rewritten. they're being reinterpreted. our knowledge about the past version of the person wasn't accurate, so our records need to be updated with the new information.

edit: also, it's just polite. shouldn't that just be enough?
