"The researchers found that the age-specific infection fatality rate was extremely low among children and young adults, measuring 0.002% at age 10 and 0.01% at 25. However, the rate progressively increased with age, growing from 0.4% at 55 to around 15% at 85."

https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/89750

So overall infected people still have a high survival rate as most infections are occurring in people under the age of 70 (96% of cases occur in people under the age of 70...most are in the 20-40 age group...) you will see outdated data from May claiming it's more like 8 or 9 %, but that was data from early in the pandemic...make sure you look at the dates....anyway, it was before older folks knew to be more careful out and about. Somewhere in the realm of 96% of cases occur in people younger than 70...California lines up perfectly with their most recent data blast-- https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/COVID-19-Cases-by-Age-Group.aspx

In theory this could technically put the Covid survival rate in the 99.6 or 99.7 range or even higher on average as people below 25 seem to be virtually unaffected except in circumstances where the individual was in poor health and have 99.96 percent survival rate that only increases the younger the person.

Kind of strange though. You would think more people would be talking about this, I mean, this is all CDC data Medpage today uses. Is it legitimate? I feel like it's been awhile since I heard the news talk about survival rate.

There is legitimacy to the term "herd immunity", combined with facilities getting better at treating it, widespread testing, people getting their vitamins...

Idk what do CEmen think

It's not death or nothing.

There are some serious known complications in survivors.

If you're talking about the heart/lung damage, that's incredibly rare (I can't find the stat) and only in severe cases....and it's also been only months in some instances so it's quite early to really say. The media loves to bring this up every few weeks though when they find an example tho.

"Herd immunity" without a vaccine is just mass murder.

With hundreds/thousands dying every day in the US, and hospitals across the country with ICUs at or over capacity, rates mean less and less. It's not too as encouraging as one might want it to be.

I care most about not dying but I also am not keen on surviving with a bunch of fucked up cognitive problems or some other shit.
