The female variant. Got a male one and have just been grinding in the route before Mt. Moon trying to catch a female.

I'm trying to catch every available Pokemon before progressing.

It must be. I've found a ton of males, Spearows, Mankeys, Pidgeys, and Jigglypuffs. Not one female Nido. I'd think it was exclusive to LeafGreen if the Pokedex didn't say it's in this route.

Always caught my Nidoran before Viridian Forest. Didnt know you could catch them right before Mt. Moon.

One positive is I'm grinding Magikarp quite a bit
When the fuck does he learn tackle? I thought it was level 10 and he's up to 12 now and still just knows splash

So far got Charmander, Pidgey, Nidoran, Mankey, and Pikachu at 15 and Magikarp at 12

Getting important item while completing a set numbers of pokedex is really bad game design. At least in hoenn games you got exp share while you naturally progress through the gyms.

Now I feel like the game is mocking me. Just had four male Nidos back to back

Just found out I can trade a male for a female later so I just caught an extra

So I actually ended up going back to catch one and got it up to Nidorina. Got both moon stones in Mt Moon and a third one held by the Clefairy I caught. Evolved Clefairy and Jigglypuff and just evolved my Nidorino at 22 so he could have Horn Attack and Thrash as Nidoking. Will evolve Nidorina later on.

My team:

Charmeleon - 20
Gyarados - 20
Pidgeotto - 20
Mankey - 20
Pikachu - 21
Nidoking - 22

Just beat Misty.

Pokedex:
Seen 49
Owned 33

Getting annoyed with all the Pokemon I've seen that aren't catchable for awhile now. I liked when the only ones I hadn't caught were Onix, Blue's Squirtle, and Sandshrew since he's not in this game

Also have a 16 Oddish and 16 Kadabra in the PC I'm considering swapping into my team (at least until Oddish evolves so I can leaf stone her for the Pokedex entry and box her again) but idk who I would replace.

This is pretty much a Professor Oak challenge, but a POC has the added "challenge" of needing to max out your Pokdex before each gym battle, so you'd also need to evolve all the pokemon you get as best as possible.

I mean, its fun having a Charizard by the first gym, but its not a super fun grind until you get like 60% through the game and are basically done.

Its more an exercise in tedium than a real challenge, but still.

After checking, they have both. One of them just has the 1% spawn rate TC ran into.

It's also easier just to catch two of the same gender because there's a guy on Route 5/Underground Path that'll trade one gender for the other.

Are either of them actually useful though? I always have a Pidgeot as my go-to flying type but maybe I should switch things up

And how's Dugtrio? I managed to catch one in the cave but I might level up that shiny Diglett if it's a solid pokemon

Dodrio is best of the Normal/Flying birds, access to STAB Tri Attack and in gen 3 it's still a physical move
