Some Americans.
I don't want universal healthcare because I don't want to pay for other people's problems.

So you're completely ignorant of how insurance in general works then. Gotcha.

The top earners pay way more than "their fair share" as they should.

Saying you want corporations to pay higher taxes is basically saying you want everyone to pay more taxes through the form of inflation.
I mean when the president allegedly only paid $750 in income tax I wouldn't call that "fair share" and he is clearly not an isolated case.

I don't want corporations to pay higher taxes, I want them to pay their income tax and not be able to use loop holes to avoid doing so.

Big corporations like Amazon and Google paying low taxes or sometimes virtually no taxes is a problem. Cut spending in other areas would help too. The US shouldn't be spending 5x more on the military than China and more than 10x other major countries in the world.

The top 1% of earners pay about 40% of all income taxes. The bottom 90% of earners pay about 30% of all taxes. The notion that the rich don't pay more in taxes is just a straight up lie.

And however you want to frame it, taxes that a corporation pays is just an added cost of production. Added costs of production are always passed onto the consumer. It's essentially a sales tax, which is a flat tax that favors the rich

Americans already pay over twice per person in taxes than someone from the UK. Nearly $12k per person, per year is spent on healthcare by the US govt, yet 90m people either have no, or incomplete access to it.

You already pay more than enough in taxes, the problem is that your system is insanely corrupt and broken.

If he didn't lie about his worth and paid his fair share, that eould support hundreds of people's healthcare.

That's because a lot of our spending specifically isn't in the public sector. So we aren't paying for all of that out of taxes, this includes private sector spending (premiums and deductibles for example)

The reason Medicare for all brings this total down is that it gives the insurance company the ability to negotiate rates down. But to do that, you need to capture all of that private spending through taxes. Which means higher taxes overall, though people who pay a lot for health care would be net winners and those who use a little are the 'losers'

They pay more in amount yes but the percentage of the income they pay are not comparable to what middle or lower class pay.

Prices might increase if there's a cartel going on, but there will always be price wars keeping prices low nonetheless so it's a moot point or at best a slippery slope argument. We've seen this in Europe with corporations over there in similar situations.

They pay more as a percent of their income in taxes, both overall and especially specifically in income taxes

I don't care about high taxes tbh as long as salaries are high.

America has some of the highest salaries in the world, in general and especially for skilled positions. There are a ton of countries with more welfare and social nets, etc. than America's whose median income is a lot less.

Well presumably salaries would go up if business wasn't paying all these health care costs for their employees but I'm not holding my breath on that one

You can keep doubling down on your truisms or you can educate yourself. It's true that a large share of Americans have no income tax burden, but when all federal taxes are included, even the bottom 20 percent have a positive tax burden after including transfers. That's because they pay payroll taxes.

So healthy Americans are also against the concept of insurance? Ideally, no one would ever need to insure anything, but the world is not perfect. Everyone that pays in is paying for everyone that makes a claim.

Should public services be opt-out as well? You shouldn't pay for roads if you don't drive on them? Shouldn't pay for firefighters if you don't plan on your house burning down? Either everyone pays for everything or no one gets any of it.

It's actually very easily comparable. They pay both a higher percentage of their income and a higher overall volume.

Conservatives shouldn't be bootlickers because their anti-government stance should motivate them to defund the police along with every other tax-funded service.

Anyway, I support almost no one in the government, but we don't need anarchy. That's stupid and anti-society. I think the government should be licking our boots.

Society is impossible without government and taxes. If people really want to be selfish, then they should want the government to help as many people as possible.

Time for "Q's shitty hot take of the day"

Eliminate "capital gains" as a concept. Tax it as regular income.
Eliminate payroll taxes. Just roll its half-assed idealistic attempts at "mandatory savings" into regular income tax.
Eliminate corporate income tax. It just gets passed on to the consumer anyway, and the bulk of it would be recovered by ending that capital gains sweetheart deal. Also companies hoarding cash would be vastly less likely to collapse and beg for a bailout when the economy goes bad.
