Put it in the kitchen sink overnight, not trolling. When you get up tomorrow, then put it in the fridge. Check it tomorrow night before bed, if it's still partially frozen, put it in the sink again.

Just now? Probably not, but it can also depend on your refrigerator settings and density of the turkey.

I softened it up a bit by throwing the turkey in a big mixing bowl then filling it up with water. I'll leave it in the sink for awhile then put it back in the fridge. Continuing this until fully thawed.

I don't even know what to do once it's done. Post yal recipes plx.

alternatively, make a brine. if you brine the turkey overnight in the fridge it'll defrost.

That's what I had to do last year.Luckily they dont read the water meter here so I had a good running stream on a 12lb for about 6 hours before I could cook it.Its the safest way imo

The turkey seems thawed, but I haven't taken out of the bag yet. Also, I think water may have leaked in.

Seriously what recipes are you using

Don't just thaw it out in the sink, you need to bathe it in cold water that you replace at least every thirty minutes to prevent it from reaching a temperature where bacteria will grow.

The turkey I made that had the most people loving it was pretty simple.

Take like three stick of butter and saut a bunch of minced or pressed garlic in it until every thing is golden brown. Strain out the garlic and inject the garlic butter all over and deep into the turkey, baste it a bit and with the garlic butter and put creole seasoning on the inside and outside of the turkey.

Cook at 350 until it is done, I don't remember weight and time... just google it, go a bit less than they recommend and check it. If you go by the recommended times it is always a bit over cooked and dry.

Does anyone use a recipe that doesn't have a rack? Or is it okay to throw the bird on a baking sheet lol

You probably want something a bit deeper than that.

I use a big roasting thing and line the inside with foil, enough extra that you can fold it over the top of the turkey if it is browning too much. Just fold the extra foil down over the sides of the container so the turkey is uncovered and can brown nicely.

So anything a turkey can fit in works really, probably don't want a baking sheet tho... will work if you have nothing else but it will be messy.

it doesn't work. cooking a rack of chicken on a sheet leaves plenty of grease at the end. imagining a whole turkey while doing that. going to cause a fire.

So I decided to just grill the turkey since I didn't have a rack.

Grilling is easy. Put drip pan in the center of grate. Distribute hot coals around the pan. Place turkey in the center of grill. Vents open. Add nine coals every hour to keep the heat.
